Best paulsen sets ? (1 Viewer)

I am a long time card player looking to set up a poker room in my house what sets are nice yet affordable preferred tourney set for say 2 tables
So far i really like the giraffes and the beach parys what do u guys suggest?
1) Welcome to the PCF community @MrCastro127

2) Do you know @Jeevansluck @T_Chan @Gear @allforcharity @Frank @grantc54 or any of the other chippers from B.C.? You have a really good crew up there.

3) Giraffes are not really attainable

4) Giraffes are a lower denom only cash set (the $20 is the highest denom), so not exactly meant for tournament play. However, I have played with them, and you are not wrong for liking them

5) Check out this auction of ESPT...this is definitely one of the nicest tournament sets ever made (many consider it #1). But you're looking at spending about $7,000, so that is not necessarily "affordable" to everyone.

Welcome to the site. As mentioned, this is an active area.

What kind of budget do you have? Some good deals for chips going on right now, it really depends on what you want to spend.

Hello and welcome!

Two table tourney set might be difficult to buy all at once. I would say keep your eyes on the Classifieds and have ready cash to jump on a good deal when it comes up.

Also look into custom CPC set if you've got the time and an eye for design. 800 chips on average would probably be about CAD2500-3000 depending on spot options.

(many consider it #1).

I think you scared him off
He said "Best Paulsen" [sic] sets and mentioned Giraffes. :banghead: I gave an example of one of the best Paulson sets.:D

The truth is @MrCastro127 that you have a lot of good people in B.C. who can steer you in the right direction. Although crazy sets like the ESPT can go for over $7/chip, other great sets (like the Aurora Star hotstamps) are closer to $4/chip.

My friend @Ocharacato as a nice 800 chip 2+ table tournament breakdown of 05 Casino De Isthmus (CDI) in this listing for $2,200. $2.75 average chip price. You could even drop it down to 600 chips to save some money and still play 2 tables. An efficient T25 based T10k breakdown of 160/160/80/160/40 CDIs from this set would run you about $1,700.

Welcome. Your budget will be most important while seeking a Paulson set. Everyone's tastes are different.
Tournament wise you can acquire and build a variation of things for your needs.

Some examples I can give you are:

Paulson RHC

CPC Scrown

The CDIs listed above are paulson home moulds, and are a great choice as well.
@Ben8257 has more pictures of other tournament sets we have as well as more info on the CDIs

There are tons of Directions to go with a tourney set... not only paulson, BCC, CPC or other clay manufacturers.

Unfortunately in the current market only CPC are still making chips for the home market.

Happy to share a few pictures of different options and round about prices... doesnt mean readily available though!

BCC's a dense clay chip woth a paper inlay.

The way I understand it, the were a prototype never released for the home Market.

Paulson 36mm (undersized) tourney, casino used chips

Not easy to find these although there are a WSOP version that is avalible from @The Chip Exchange currently.

Polson RHC 39mm (normal sized)... a less desirable easier to find version of casino chips that many casinos choose to use these days. Our set are Hot stamp as opposed to inlaid chips

Also there are spotted version like @FordPickup92 shared above.

Paulson also released a home mold version of chips as it seems casinos were getting upset that everyday people could buy similar chips to their own. This cover CDiS or casino de isthmus as mentioned above, also basically the same chips but different inlay design the Paulson Clasics and Pharaohs

You can see on the faces that these actually say "paulson" but still include the signature top hat and cane.

The preferred paulson chip is the THC mold, again shown in the casino used Presidents on the Admiral also shared by Fordpickup above.

Paulson also makes very desirable oversized IHC chips in Tourney denoms although very hard to find and very expensive. Also there are 47, 49 and 50mm chips in existance but extremely hard to find.

But this is where hybrid ceramics come in. @SUN-FLY Poker Chips produces custom chips and a sight vendor... or you can buy semi customs from there website in both 39mm and 43mm chips.

The only set we own of these are 43mmno mold chip

an awesome choice for adding oversized chips to you collection that will not break the bank!

There are countless other chip options out there, buy samples and based off your budget.

Best of luck with the hunt!! Feel free to reach out by PM anytime if there is anything I can help with!!

Thanks everyone for your help still finding my way around here
Take your time and come back to some of the (incredibly helpful) answers above. You can also always private message people here on the site and ask them for specific advice/thoughts. In my first year on here I have found nearly everyone to be really friendly and quick to give some feedback if/when needed.
