Hosted my first tournament in several years. We used to play tourneys all the time but slowly migrated to cash game over the span of 17yrs. Now it seems after last night's game, my crew may want to play tourneys more regularly i.e.monthly.

I have no tourney sets so last night used my CPC set with oversized 44mm as hundos. This was not popular and totally waste of great chip on these rascals.. I got comments like "hey, did you know one chip is larger than the others"? Or "is this a bounty chip"?. To make matters worse, they did not want to color up to the big $100 chip so I couldn't even get them all in play. I was knocked out and playing cash, so didnt care one way or the other at this point.

Anyways, what's the recognized best China clay chip these days. Dunes/Majestic? Others?

And, what's the preferred breakdown for a 10 person tournament w standard blinds and levels?

I have had a PGI (greek key mold) CC tournament set for 6 plus years, no issue. I wouldn't get any of the chips that have a pink spot, it seems to flake more than the other colors. I did a combo of the 8V and 814 originals to stay away from pink spots.

I have several friends that ordered the tower and spear mold from PGI, I think there is too much cross hatching and the edges are too beveled.

I am not a big fan of the milano chips, have't touched the Majestic chips but I have read good things about them.

10K 10 person 400 chips

12x 25 120
12x 100 120
5x 500 60 (one extra for color ups)
6x 1000 70 (one extra for color ups)

30x 5000 for rebuys, add-ons, deep stack, etc

My two cents.

my 2 cents - pharroahs.

i have owned most china clays - and they are the best quality IMO. though i do like the majestics as well.

pharroahs seem to be a little thicker and nice easy to read labels. I like the black labels of the majestics though.
