I read today that the Broccoli family are wheeling out Daniel Craig once again to flog the dead horse that is the Bond franchise. Apart from Casino Royal his turn at being Bond has been pretty forgettable. Brosnan’s first movie was his only one worth bothering with so I was lamenting the sad state of affairs with what used to be a great franchise. It got me wondering who was the best Bond and which movie was the greatest.

No real shocks here. Obviously for me it’s big Sean and I don’t think they’ll ever beat Goldfinger. What’s your thoughts?

Yeah love them. At the risk of boring you did you know that the first half of From Russia With Love was written in conjunction with the British secret service as a propaganda exercise?

The bit where Bond looks up the periscope in the sewer at the table full of Russian intelligence officers and it describes in great detail every member of the Russian intelligence service, what they looked like and what seat they sat in was designed to freak them out. As if to say not only do we know where you hold your meetings, who attends them and where they sit but it’s such common knowledge that we’re happy to let it be published in a popular novel...

I love the Daniel Craig movies, granted the last one was disappointing, but he's been great.

Pierce Brosnan was great but you are right, he wasn't given the right material to work with.

Connery was excellent, I've never seen the Daltrey or Lazenby ones and Roger Moore absolutely sucks. Every time I see him as bond I feel like I'm watching the intro to a low budget porn.

I know I'm showing my age, but Daniel Craig for me.

The Lazenby one is brilliant. Seriously it’s one of the best. There’s no gadgets (other than a photocopier that has to be lifted into a building by a crane - seriously - but it was the 60’s and photocopies were witchcraft) and a lot of people don’t like Bond without his gadgets. Honestly give it a go it’s got one of the best stories.
Daltrey is the lead singer of The Who so I’ve not seen his Bond either although I bet it would have been mental  :ROFLMAO:

About 10 years ago my son and I watched every single bond movie on consecutive Saturday mornings in the order that they were made. For that reason I love them all.

Honestly, I could do without Timothy Dalton.

I like the tone if the Daniel craig movies. CR was fantastic (until the poker scene).

Licence to kill was good. I think that Dalton is most like the Bond from the books, an unsympathetic blunt weapon. Unfortunately that’s not the charmer that we’ve come to expect from the movies so he got patched...

I just don't like him as an actor.

Haha i can't stand the who either, what a piss poor excuse of a band. Floyd and zeppelin all the way.

I've got the entire collection on DVD, inshould really get around to watching them all.

You have all the bond flicks on DVD and haven't watched them?

Embarrassing!
Its because I grew up with goldeneye. I've seen the Brosnan and Craig movies about 3 times each. I rewatched the Craig movies a week ago lol.

But fine, its time to do it properly

The Who were great (apart from Pete Townsend’s dubious internet history). I saw them live a few years ago and they still had it.

You’re in for a treat. Big Sean is the man.

“Q you’re a shite”

“Excuse me 007? I’m a what?”

“You’re a shite for shore eyesh”

No Roger Moore is really awful. He just looks so ungainly and unathletic. I can't imagine he'd be able to fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

Plus his gun stance is so awkward. He's the least cool person of all time.

Connery - I grew up thinking he was the coolest cat on the planet. I will never get past the early impact and sense of nostalgia I have for him.

Craig - brought a grittiness and toughness to the role that I liked. Overall I thought the movies were well made.

Brosnan - Remember him as a pretty boy in Remington Steele, but thought he did a surprisingly good job overall

Moore - Moore was OK as Bond, but the movies during his tenure just got progressively worse

Lazenby - One shot deal so whatever

Dalton - I could never buy into him being Bond

Connery's best is From Russia With Love. Best kill was the straight up assassination of the professor in Dr. No.
Moore's best is Live And Let Die. Best kill was dumping Blofeld down the chimney.
Dalton's best is Licence to Kill. The depressurization tank was the most sinister Bond kill ever.

I watched some Brosnan and Craig, but Denise Richards the nuke scientist or a plot about stealing water are weak sauce. I cannot comment on them intelligently. And I remember Telly Savalas more from Majesty's Secret Service than Lazenby.
