... aaaand 5000! I cannot believe that this is my 5000th post here on PCF. It feels like just the other day I hit 3-of-a-kind status and was so excited. I can think of no better way to celebrate than to do a giveaway! But before I get into the details, I wanted to take a step back and reflect on the past 3.5 years. I'll keep it brief...

I found this wallet-sucking wonderful money pit of joy by accident while trying to research a better set of poker chips. I had never been a part of any online community before, either, so the whole idea of constantly chatting with people online I didn't know was really a foreign concept. I was so scared to dip my toes into the water that when I bought my first set of Paulson's I thought I had made a terrible mistake. Eventually, the shock eased, and I realized that I needed to learn a bit more about the hobby. How do I clean these filthy chips? What other molds are out there? Why would I ever need more than 1 DB?

1 set grew into 2, and then that grew into 4, and over the next 3 years, it would expand to 25. TWENTY FIVE. And then the dealer buttons happened. Don't even get me started on that. But the point here is that I kinda went a little nuts, and I regret none of it. Sure, my family and friends looked at me funny and simply cannot understand how much joy PCF brings me.

COVID prevented me from using any of these sets until only recently, but it also gave me time to learn and play a bit of catchup. I honestly cannot believe that this hobby has so much history and passion, and there's still so much to learn. I gave back to the community as much as I could, offering to help people get their online Poker Mavens servers running. It was the least I could do.

Then the 3D stuff started. At first, I was just trying to solve a problem that blossomed from an argument. But apparently people really liked the stuff I was making, so within a few months the printer was running almost 24x7. And then @jpietrella approached me with an interesting idea; could I make a plaque box? Well, no, I couldn't as I would need a bigger printer. Luckily, they make bigger printers, and soon I was making boxes, racks, and display stands. The first little printer caught on fire and melted down. I asked too much of it, I know that now. But the 2nd and 3rd printers have stepped up to the plate to help me churn out some great stuff for forum members.

I'm not an artist; I'm not a designer; I'm not a 3D modeler ... I'm just a software guy who likes to learn stuff and stumbled my way into this amazing hobby!

Lots of people to mention who have helped me along the way:

@Ben8257 for all the advice and feedback on custom sets, breakdowns, purchases, and general knowledge
@FordPickup92 for scaring me into my first Paulson set ever
@jpietrella and @Pinkdan for pushing the envelope with 3D printed DB rack designs
@TheOffalo for lots of great back-and-forth chit chat during our design phase, and the tuck boxes of course
@Himewad for all of the DB and chip group buys
@JMC9389, @Nuhockey @Irish @DuffCal for all of the feedback on my first CPC set as well as countless group chats
@casinochipper22 for helping me build 2 complete sets with his harvesting skills
@liftapint for some great design sessions and chip talk
...

I mean, there are just so many more. I've mentioned them in my 1, 2, and 3 year anniversary posts. Just too many to call out. But honestly, I know who you are and I appreciate the time you've spent chatting with me and guiding me toward the hopeless chipnut that I am today.

And after all of this, I still have not yet been able to attend a meetup. Something that I hope to fix in 2023! So, yeah, I guess I kept it "kinda" brief. Anyway, let's get to the fun stuff!

Here are the rules:
  • We'll do this NLHE style! My Chanman table's got 10 seats, so I'll pick 30 random qualifying posts from this thread to play out a single NLHE hand across 3 tables. If you'd like to see what you're in store for, you can reference the prior giveaways:
  • I'll let this thread run from today, 10/25, until 2 days from now, 10/27. At 12:01am on 10/28, I will choose the players.

  • If you'd like to try your luck, you'll need to post "BearMetal Needs Chip Therapy!" You can always add something extra, especially if you know me on PCF.

  • I don't think any particular member is excluded since I don't think I've made any enemies in my 3 years here. There is no asshat clause.
The Prizes
You can choose from anything I've 3D printed before.
  • Display racks
  • Plaque Box
  • Chip Rack
  • DB Holders
If this post gets to over 100 reactions, a "mystery" prize will open up. What could it be? You'll only find it out by clicking that reaction button!

And some obligatory pR0n:

"BearMetal Needs Chip Therapy!"

Had a great time collaborating with you, and I still use my DB racks! I’m not quite as active—life stuff—but I’m kinda back, working slowly on my 1-year post, which might turn into my 2k post if I let it go too long.

@FordPickup92 for scaring me into my first Paulson set ever
You're welcome! Lol congrats on 5k posts, 25 sets, and your 3D printer stuff is absolutely awesome! I was really glad to gift one to another member/friend.

Congrats on the milestone and thank you again for all your help with Mavens during the COVID lockdowns!

BearMetal Needs Chip Therapy!

Congratulations! And if you ever think you need chip therapy, just search for photos from @FordPickup92 and @Ben8257, showing the stacks upon stacks upon STACKS of Apache chip cases, full of countless sets and projects. Honestly, I don't know how they store them all!! You'll feel better, trust me. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for all of the fun chats, and the 3D awesomeness! You're a keeper.

Funny you should mention this story, I became a member after reading several comments you made on some thread about CPC (Doing similar research on chip upgrades!). Ha funny how that works.

Dealer button holder why would anyone need one of those you really only need a couple to play. Have since out grown the two I have and need more storage space  :ROFLMAO:

Umm... "Jonathan is completely NORMAL and needs absolutely nothing other than additional DBs, chip sets, and other fantastic poker accessories"

Brother you have made soo many fantastic things for us, I would simply love for someone that has not removed any of your amazing "artwork" to get their very own first piece!

Congratulations on your 5000th post, we started within days of each other (along with Ms. Brie of course) we have learned, hunted, collected together on so many different ventures! As far as an "online forum friend" you are one of the best!

I absolutely 100% agree that you DO INDEED need to start attending meet ups... or at minimum invite your family (Ben n Brie) up for a game... even if it is a $10 family tournament! Lol I know it's wired and awkward to step out if your comfort zone but please come and join us @Irish Or @MegaTon44 event in 2023. I can promise you that you will have zero regrets, there is nothing better than spending time with your fellow enthusiasts! Yup... chips are awesome, we all know that. But as Brie and I prep for our 8th meet up this year alone and already close to filling our 2023 calendar for meet ups, like others we enjoy vacations and time away but absolutely prefer to spend it with our chipping family!

Looking forward to the next 5000 posts and beyond BROTHER! It has been one hell of a ride!

Forever your chipping brother
Ben

And thank the lord they aren't ALL in the basement!

How do we store them... this house is a chip storage cabinet that we try to coexist in the same space with... but I fear we are loosing the battle! They are taking over! Lol
