Just sharing some cleaning results - sorry I didn't have great lighting!

First time using a magic eraser on a dirty rack of chips - very happy with the result!

Thinking about oiling the edge to bring out the color - I'll experiment sometime in the future.

These babies are officially ready for some Gear labels!

Man they came up really well!! I’m looking at some casino used chips ATM and was concerned how well they scrub up. After seeing these before/after pics it’s reassuring.
Good work :)

Very nice! I have AQ and I love them!
Question, are you overlabeling the JACK secondary 100’s or full inlay replacement?
I have them to and I’m wondering which option is better :cool

Thanks everybody! I finally finished all of my labels so I'll try and get some more pr0n for my other thread soon!

I did overlabels with all of them, but I have no significant experience with full inlay replacement. I fooled around removing some labels before and decided that I'm happy enough with overlabels, I can't bring myself to murder almost 600 chips

I asked around a lot before deciding whether full inlay replacement was worth it vs overlabels. Good luck!

Overlabels turned out fantastic though - here's a quick pic.

Nice! Good stuff! That JACK secondary Hundo is a beauty and those labels are tight!
Yea, the relabel project i have planned originally called for murdering over 600.
I’ve been doing some reading up on the subject too and I think I’m leaning more towards over labeling.
Thank you, I’d be curious to hear any other info you’d like to share on the subject :cool

Jamie,

I must add my .02 cents here. Overlabel is a great option. Works great and helps to preserve a chip you don't want to maybe murder. Keeps its value a bit higher too.

However, if it's a forever set, I'd really recommend full murder with inlay replacement. There is a noticeable difference in sound and feel of the chips. The replacement inlay can be customized further with addition of lamination or texture or both. Gear is amazing!

I've had my experiences with both. It's gotta be inlay replace for me. If you're a person who isn't sure about it, then label over is a great option as you can still move on to murder later on.

If a person is sure, dead set on the chip, then nothing compares to murder and inlay re/re.

@PlayerADK , fantastic set man! Im very jealous of your $1 conversion, the labels look pretty badass. Let me know when you are ready to make a profit on those;)

Really great chip selections!

Really great chip selections!

Thanks Nav, I should have been more specific!

For quality of chip - inlay replacement is better in basically every case.

Overlabels Pros + Cons
Pros:
- Faster
- Preserves underlying chip (and therefore it's original value)
- Cheaper? (if you decide to go with laminated or textured labels with inlay replacement, not a requirement)
Cons:
- Can be noticeable on top of chip
- Just doesn't look as good as full inlay replacement

Full Inlay Replacement Pros + Cons
Pros:
- Looks flawless
- Option to be laminated or textured labels
- Lays deeper set in the chip, less chance for peeling
Cons:
- Much more time consuming
- Lose some value of original inlay (this is semi-debatable if people always intend to relabel, but in general it's worth less when murdered)
- Can be more expensive

My reasoning for overlabels was mostly their value + laziness for realizing how difficult it can be to remove old inlays.

Just to add to this - chips can be damaged when removing overlabels. It really depends on how secure the original inlays are, I have noticed 43mm and some 39mm chips inlays can be easily damaged (the plastic cover comes off) when removing overlabels.

If you are concerned about maintaining the original chip make sure you do a couple tests (the longer the label it is on, the more the glue seems to adhere, so I would suggest leaving it on at least a week before doing test removal).

Man it’s such a tough decision...
The two issues for me are time and quality.
I just don’t wanna take the time to murder 600 chips.
But the chipper in me wants the best quality.
I’ve got plenty of time to think about it, as there’s quite the line for @Gear services (when you’re the guy and the best, tends to be alil bit of demand lol)

Cheaper
Quicker
Better Quality

pick two of the above.

Inlay removal is less of a pain if you can do it with a drill press. Accuracy counts, especially with a RHC chip. But I know where you're coming from - I've done somewhere around 500-600 THC inlay removals and I would not likely tread there again. (In the same amount of time I milled several thousand THC hot stamps).

I'm sure @Eloe2000 and @Josh Kifer and a few others may have some advice about drill press methods.

Something my dad taught me early....

Inlay removal can be quick with a press, but they require cleanup and the new pocket can be slightly off from the original. Hand Murdering is the better option, but can take a while. Gotta pick the devil on this one. Time or quality.

do you guys generally use water with your magic erasers, or do you go in dry? i've always used water, but i tried just buffing the edges of a barrel with a dry one, and it worked remarkably well. the only problem was the eraser itself slowly shreds into a fuzzy mess.

Lightly moist.....
