Anyone move back to an iPhone 5s (or SE) after using a 6 or 6+? (2 Viewers)

I've had a 6s since it came out and I didn't think too much about it. I liked the bigger screen and noticed that it was a bit more cumbersome to reach around the screen, but it didn't strike me as a huge problem.

But last night I had occasion to fiddle with an old iPhone 5 and holy shit I was loving it. Everything within easy reach, I could cradle the bottom on my pinky and still hit the top of the screen with no problem whatsoever. It was like I had forgotten this was even possible.

When I went back to my 6s it was only that much more obvious that operating it with one hand wasn't quite comfortable. And now I'm thinking of trading in for an old 5s or a new SE. Anyone else moved backwards or considered it?

I held off on getting a 6/6s because I've had a 5s for the past 2.5 years and like the size. So when the 5se came out, I was pretty set on getting one. Now I'm back to being on the fence, and will likely wait a few more months and see what the 7 looks like. Other than my battery being a bit shitty (at this point), I have no real complaints about my 5s in terms of form and size.

Considering I went from a 4 straight to the SE I can't completely say yes ... I'm not an apple fan boi by any means but when they announced the SE I was in love. In fact I was the first person to buy one at my AT&T store on the day it launched. I walked in at 9:05 and the staff almost wouldn't sell me one because they thought release day wasn't until the next day. Needless to say there was no line out front.

The reason I avoided the 6 series was all the things you didn't like about it plus I just couldn't justify the price. I don't have the biggest hands in the world and my carpal tunnel sometimes flares up if I spend too much time fiddling around on a phone/iPad due to the amount of driving and keyboard time I have at work. The SE absolutely rocks IMHO.

Still rocking the 4S. 6 is way to big and I have my wife's old 5C waiting for me and will probably just utilize that. I'm more holding onto my 4S because it uses the same charger as my touch. If you wonder why I have both my phone's memory is full 16G and I have no music on there, my touch is half full 64G and I have less than 1/4 of my music on it.

Still using the iPhone 5. I am waiting for the 7 to come out before I decide. I definitely prefer the smaller feel of the 5 but wouldn't mind a slightly larger screen. I will probably stick with the 5 unless the 7 has some really useful transporter or phaser functions.

I am different than a lot of you, I don't mind not being able to use my phone 100% with only one hand, doesn't bother me at all. I will gladly trade not being able to work it one handed for the screen size you get.

I have the 6s plus but this is my first iPhone, I have been Android since thay came out and usually had a new phone every year, sometimes I would skip a year but generally not. I had moved on from bigger phones than what on iPhone had always been before the 6 models a long time ago, for my business during the day I am on the web and suppliers web sites ordering parts and a little screen is not fun for that.

I do have a little bigger hands but my fingers are not long (xl cadet is my golf glove size, big hand short stubby fingers ) but I still don't have a problem using it one handed if I really need to, I'm just not as fast at it as I could be with a smaller phone.

Do you guys know how to put your 6 or 6s into reachability mode? Double tap the home button and it shrinks your screen down by half allowing easy access to the top, some people don't like that but I use it all the time if I am using it one handed.

My feelings might not mean much though, I use the plus and I don't think it's too big but you guys think the regular 6 is. If you really like the smaller form I don't think you could go wrong with the SE, it would bee the perfect blend of size with the updated os, seems to be a win win for sure.

That's one of the laughable things about Apple compared to Android or Windows, the money they charge for memory is criminal and still putting out a 16gb phone in 2016 is embarrassing. It's usually $100 more to step up from the 16gb which is not a deal imo but something you have to do. For the next batch of phones from them they will still have the 16 as the base, it's a money grab and part of the reason I resisted Apple for so long.

New phone modelscome out every year, Apple us on the fall. This year will be the "7" but it's not going to be too much different than the 6 or 6s, next year will be the ten year anniversary of the iPhone and the rumors are next year is when another big redesign will come asks a lot of people think they will just call it the iPhone 10.

They are getting rid of the standard head phone jack but if you want to plug in headphones it will be through a lightning cable. They are doing it because the headphone jack is what is preventing them (and all cell phone makers) from making the phone thinner, it's the thickest part right now and obviously can't be shrunk down. I personally don't think it's needed, phones are already thin enough and on my list of wants out of future cell phones being thinner is not on it.... But Apple do what Apple do, so yeah. Apple cables are gigantic pieces of shit and not being able to use the majority of third party cables with out getting the "cable not authentic " or whatever that message is tilts the shit out of me.... But, at least they will still have a cabled option rather than just Bluetooth. When Android gets rid of their headphone jack the tech rumours are they won't develop any corded option and it will be Bluetooth only. I'm a nice headphone fan and have a couple really nice pairs that sound great with phones, shake they are all going to be going away from jacks in the future.

Yeah I was aware that the motivation for removing the headphone jack was the size, but I don't want to have to choose between either using the proprietary headphones or carrying around a goddamn adapter.

And going bluetooth only is a GIANT mistake until the bluetooth quality is way above where it is today. I spent a lot of time and money trying to find acceptable bluetooth headphones and ended up with a drawer full of mediocre to good sounding sets whereas I could have spent a ton less on excellent corded headphones. No way I would restrict myself to bluetooth only.

Like I said, I have had an Android phone since the beginning and thought it was funny that Apple was always two years or more behind Android in technology while being in a locked down operating system. I had tried iphones before but really liked everything about Android so much better.... Then I got this 6s Plus and i have to admit I love it. I do still use an Android phone as well though, and if I had to pick only one to use forever it would be Android, but there are some things about this phone I love. I won't be getting the 7, I'll get a new Android phone to play with this fall for my business, but I do think I will be getting the new one next year's

I'm still on my pre-Siri 32gb 4... have played around with bigger models but haven't found a reason to go bigger. Have had to drop a couple apps due to not having access to higher OS updates the app requires but as a working man I love the phone being non cumbersome in a pocket even with my Griffon case on.

This is the thing right here, totally agree.

I am one of those people that love new phones, it's one of the things I spend money and energy on in this life that gives me joy, it's a small part of my life but none the less I am attracted to the new stuff every year. For that purpose I love everything about my big ass phones I carry around.

However, if you are into just putting something in your pocket that works as a phone but also has the internet and stuff if you want it every once in a while @Ronoh (and anybody else wanting those sizes) is absolutely right in my mind; the pre iphone 6 sizes are just about perfect. If I was looking for a phone to be primarily, you know, a phone, the iphone 6s Plus and others like it would be the last ones I picked.

Quick tip on iOS: If you can't reach the top couple rows of buttons easily, double-tap the home key (double TAP, not double CLICK). That will slide the buttons down by two rows, making them easier to reach one-handed.

Same here. I've played around with the 6/6s but after having the 5 for 2 years, when it was time for me to upgrade (actually I switched carriers) I just went with the 5s for the reasons you mentioned.

Touch ID is awesome. Can't lose that.

As for the downgrade, I refused the upgrade. As cumbersome as the 6 and 6+ are for 1 handed operation, it's even worse when you're a lefty.

When I was all Android it was a very easy feature to not care about because A. when the fingerprint id first came out on a few different phones it didn't work too well and was easy to dismiss, and B. I knew no different. I can't speak to anything before the 6s Plus since it's my first iPhone but as of now it works beautifully and I don't want to give it up.

It's kind of like the car I've driven for six years or so, it has the feature where you just have to have the key fob thing on your person for your hand to automatically lock/unlock the doors or trunk then when you get in you just push a button to start. Before I had this car that was something I didn't care much about, "How lazy can you be that starting your car with a key is too much??" I would have asked...now that I have it though, I never want to go back to having a key again. lol

The follow behind cruise control I am looking forward to one day, I didn't get it on this car because I hated the way it made the bumper look and I couldn't find a manual with all the options I wanted so I ditched the active cruise control. Would love it though, especially on road trips!!

The other choice is Bluetooth headphones. Wireless everything, man. Although I have spent a fair amount of change on wireless bluetooth headphones to jog with and still prefer my wired headphones.

I am a big screen guy all the way. I love my 6 plus. I do relatively little one-handed (texting while driving?) anyway. Older eyes like larger text.
