I know I know, metal slugs are the devil.

Anyway, I like the clean minimalist aesthetic of both versions of the Godel set. I actually kinda like the abs look better than the ceramic too. They do seem a bit expensive for what you are getting though. Unfortunately they don't have samples available yet, and their customer service team indicates it will be a few months at least before they offer them.

the only youtube review i could find was on the Nash slow play lines. Couple years old Basically indicated the quality of the abs chips was meh with flashing issues but the ceramics were on point.

Anyone have either of these godel sets? Thoughts?

I don't know about the quality of the chips themselves, but the set breakdowns are almost useless. I would strongly suggest buying from somewhere that allows you to pick your exact breakdown. I'm not crazy about any of their designs either.

Monaco Casinos from Discount Poker Shop are my favorite ABS chips I've used so far. They're less slippery than most others, stack and handle well with nice smooth edges, and have a nice, simple design and decent colors. I also like the Crown Casino chips, but they don't offer a quarter for small stakes home games. I've heard the Monte Carlos are decent, as well.

I know this is not addressing what you asked, but if the set comes with a case, the Slowplay 500 chip case is excellent. Very sleek design with unique latches. Playing cards in their box won't fit the designated trays, but extra chips or dealer buttons, bounties etc can.

Interesting. I do agree that not being able to pick the denoms is a mark against them at the moment. Their customer service did mention they will have the ability to sell alternate denoms outside of sets within the next year. But I imagine that will also be more expensive like a lot of sites.

That said I am curious why you thik the break down is so bad? Most sets I'm seeing are at least somewhat similar.
For their denom sets they are listing the following:

  • 500pcs chip set(Numbered Chips): $1-150 Chips, $5-150 Chips, $25-100 Chips, $100-50 Chips,$500-25 Chips,$1000-25 Chips.
i would be looking at micro stakes mostly, so to get the most use out of it i would probably be playing for 10cents on the dollar. That or doing a penny a point. And mostly ignore the $1 chips. Like I said nearly ever set I have seen basically has the same problem

If i were to purchase a set that was different I would probably need one with 5 cent and 25 cent chips. But those seem to be near impossible to find unless I want to go custom

Because you’ll never need a $1 chip and a $1000 chip in the same game. Our .25/.50 home game plays fairly big, and we've never gotten even 20 $25 chips in play. Also, in a 1/1 game or 1/2 game, you’ll want more a $5’s, and probably more $25’s, because they’ll be your workhorse chips.

For a 500-chip set, I’d recommend:
$1 x 100
$5 x 300
$25 x 75
$100 x 25

You could just use 5’s as nickels, $25’s as quarters, etc. Or, you could probably relabel something as nickels.

But here’s an option with all the microstakes options:

Also, for my microstakes game, I had the following:

  • 5¢ x 100 (more than I actually ever needed)
  • 25¢ x 200
  • $1 x 240
  • $5 x 60
My favorite breakdown for any stakes is 100/300/300/100 (or maybe 100/300/300/80/20), with each denomination being 4x or 5x the previous one.

If you really want it get the non-denominated chips and play them all the same value, it’s a bit annoying and you may have a lot of chips out, but it’s prob your best option if you “really want them”.

A friend of mine recently purchased a set of these and I must say the nicest part of the purchase was the case.

I think they are overpriced for what they are and a set of used ceramics in the classified section is your best bet!

Just my 2 cents

These are nice looking chips with a standard 5¢ option. They are clay chips.

Majestics aren’t actual compressed clay. They’re known as China clay, which are injection-molded plastics, with added materials to make them feel a bit more like compressed clay. But they are a nice upgrade from regular ABS chips.
You're right, I shouldn't assume people know that. I've been looking into my first upgrade from ABS to ceramic or CC so I know what they mean when they say clay.
