I'm 24 hours away from liftoff, so I thought I would start a trip report thread. I seriously doubt it will be as interesting as Mike's recent thread, so please keep expectations low. Home base will be Excalibur, but I plan to spend the majority of my time somewhere in the vicinity of the Flamingo and Bally's poker rooms. Lot's of photos are planned, but I've never done them from the fly on my phone, so we will see how that goes.

Until tomorrow...

Good luck. I hope you had as much fun as I did and l look forward to your updates.

Getting off to a bumpy start. Was a slow day at work until 30 minutes before I was set to leave. A last minute request came in and I had to scramble to get it done before I left. Then on the way to the airport my car starts telling me it's low on oil. I checked when I got to airport parking and it's down a quart on a 6.5 quart fill, so I guess I don't need to panic. Still it's annoying. All topped off by the flight being delayed twice so far, and currently running an hour and ten minutes late.

The flight looks to be packed as there are currently three people on the standby list. I looked at my C-12 boarding pass and decided to take advantage of Southwest's upgrade option. $40 later I feel much better about my place in line....

Now boarding A-3.

The flight ran an hour and a half late, but I'm here.

3:15am. Too late to journey down the strip, but I can't sleep yet (never can on my first night in town). I decide to go down and play some slots that my wife wants me to play for her. Put in my players card, and it tells me it's looking for my information; but never finds it. Guess I have to go to the MLife desk later today when it's open. While I'm waiting for the machine to recognize me, I hear "Hey baby. Why you alone?" Proposition #1. When I turned around, my look told her all she needed to know and she moved on. I like when they are professional like that and don't keep bugging you.

For any serious Vegas Traveller it would be time to find a bar. However, I can't force myself to pay those prices when I can drink free at the table. So here I sit in Johnny Rockets having a malt. It wasn't cheap either but it lasts longer. Seems they have gone green. The straw is paper, not plastic.

(btw paper straws suck)

We had paper straws back in elementary school, and I still remember the feel of them on my lips. :wtf:

But if it preserves the planet for future generations, I'll just learn to stop drinking things that require a straw (or start carrying my own).

Also, it's Las Vegas. 3:15a is not too late to journey down the strip, it's prime time for drunk sniping at the Flamingo. Excalibur also has a poker room, but I suspect that at 3:15a it's all rolled up.

Out of the room at 2:00pm. First stop at the MLife desk to get a players card that works. Then to CVS for some hydration. No tax on Gatorade here. That's nice. For lunch I make my first ever visit to In-N-Out. The place was a zoo. Had to stand up to eat.

No animal style for me. Not a bad burger, but just wait till Whataburger comes to town.

Now in for 200 at Flamingo 1/2 nl.

Good luck at the table! If you find any spotted ones I’ll buy them :)

I was there this weekend and only harvested three. At this point @David O has more of them than the Flamingo Casino Lol

Finished a 7.5 hour session up $35. There were a lot of different people coming through, but the table stayed fairly passive all day. Being my first day of play, I was a complete nit. However, I think that saved me more money than it cost me. I almost got sucked into a couple of second best hands that could have wiped me out. Came to PH to use today's poker comps on the Hawaiian BBQ at Earl of Sandwich.

On the trip over encountered propositions 5 and 6.

At Flamingo, I tried to bribe a cashier to find me some uncirculated $5s. Unfortunately, her English was limited and she didn't grasp the concept. She got the manager involved and that killed it. 5 more days to try.

Coming out of Planet Hollywood, I caught my first smell of marijuana in the air. Then going back into Paris proposition 7 held the door open for me and told me how nice I looked.

On a side note, the Paris cocktail waitresses have changed to a much less provocative uniform.

Thursday

Out of the room at 2:00pm. Down to the MLife desk to collect $75 in Freeplay I have available, then off to Bally's for some 1/2nl.
