Vegas trip report - World Poker Tour domination - Wynn 2025 [08/12/25 - 19/12/25] (3 Viewers)

Vegas looks dead. Nicely kept, but dead.
TBH, I was surprised but it has been full house at the strip during the rodeo. They left yesterday, so we’ll see how much things will slow down.

The picture above were taking at the pool (closed area). The casino was busy for a Monday (at noon).

If I was you & I was there, no way I'd miss a chance to eat at Lotus of Siam (Red Rock). Cheers Thom !
This time it was t-bone but LoS is great too.

Another update from Vegas…sorry for the 24h hiatus.

I played the Tuesday 11.00 am flight for the $1100 NLHE tourney.
Things started slowly but had the feelings things were turning out for the better.
Did some good moves early and was able to bust 2 shorties…

I kept on building my stack until I ran QQ versus AA on a low board.
Lost about 60% of my stack and was short again.
Went card dead and busted after pushing with 33 in a late position and getting called by AJo in the BB.
He gets there on the turn with a J, river a brick.

Was not happy the way I played the QQ, got greedy and outplayed by the guy in the BB.
The long grinding days and lack of results were wearing on me and when I arrived at Wynn on Wednesday, my mindset was not where it needed to be to beat n this field. So I walked away and did not play…I don’t want to torch money.

The lower buy-in WPT tournies see a lot of players that don’t mind shooting up to 3 or 5 bullets going crazy agro on the first 2 or 3.
I have trouble coping with that kind of play…so need to work more on my game.
Dont think I made many mistakes but the deck has to be on your side.

We still have $2400 of the $10K we started with… too much money to piss away and will discuss with the backers what to do with the rest of the staking money. Last day Vegas today, I leave Friday early.

Did some shopping for the family and went down to the casita to stay the night at Dan & Shari.
Rufus left early in the morning and had a good run in Vegas.
He got a table part from the PLO bad beat bonus, got ITM twice on the same day at South Point.

Keep you posted what the last day will bring.
Thanks again for all support and well wishes…have a great day at all.

Best regards

Thomas

I say put it all on Red

Hi PCF

Just arrived in Belgium and on my way home.

Went all in and I took a shot at 5/10

After settling in for about 30min, it was clear that this is an action game. Pre-flop bets of $100, multiple callers and looooot of action.

I managed well and was able to run op my stack to $3200 In 2 hours, including 2 not called all-in’s and then was hit with the deck again (my plan was to double up and not cash out before that).

Then I get A2spades, I call the 3-bet in late position and flop comes 92J with 2 spades.
Villain plays agro and bet pot…I call since I have a pair and nut flush draw…Implied odds are massive with this agro play. Turn gives me a brick (non spade J), check/check and river is a 2.

I miss the flush but river a boat.
Villain goes all-in for 800 but is almost pot committed. I go in the tank, only losing from 99, JJ and J9/J2 so I call. Villain shows 99.

While most players just added on to stay at 2500 (max buy-in) but I only had one bullet.
With my crippled stack, I wanted to double up quick since this table will just bleed you dry if very short.

I get QQ in mid position, 3-bet $70 and cut-off raises to 210. I have about 1000 behind and jam.
Villain calls with JJ and hits a J on the river.

I had to swallow it all this trip, first time I have been hit with so much negative variance.
Felt ashamed in the beginning, feeling like I let down the people that trusted me. It had an impact on my trip and was not enjoying myself.

With the help and feedback of my backers and rail, I was not able to turn it result wise but they surely boosted my moral with so many support.

I just have to accept things can’t always go my way (even if I made the correct moves in +80% of the cases). So after 2 very successful trips, this one was a bust.

But when I see my rail and backers supporting me none the less, even posting they are in for next time…I can not express how much this releases the pressure. I wanted nothing more than to share a huge win with everyone, money is not my first motivation to play poker.

So, what did we learn from this trip ?
I planned too many tournies in a short time, I need to give me some more free time since grinding long days without results do wear you down.
I also concluded that Wynn is not really my vibe…beautiful casino but I prefer the people and staff at the Shoe.

I also noticed that WSOP circuit fits my play better, at Wynn there are much more players with deep pockets that shoot multiple bullets and play accordingly. Suited connectors, gapped connectors, Ax and low pairs being played like AA and try to run it up quickly and dominate the players that have limited buy-ins.

I played 2 satellites for the 10k, some players at my table shot 4 bullets with bad play..what’s the point in shooting 4 BIs in a satellite if you already paid half of the BI. I find this bad play, they see it as having a shot at half price. Also, milestone satellites are even harder with these nutcases in play (or you hit a monster and double up before they can suck out on you with a worse hand).

A bit like we also see at WSOP paradise (5 or 6 bullets in the 26k main by Dnegs) but also by many many other players. My friend who was playing in Bahama’s shot 3 bullets to cash 110k and confirmed that most players had 3-5 bullets in.

So it was all bad ?
HELL NO…with the support of everyone I was able to flush all bad feelings and just enjoy the trip.
And I did, thanks to all that helped my on the way.

Starting with @Jackstraw Dan & Shari, my Vegas family that support my in every possible way.

@BootySnatcher my partner in crime for this trip, thanks for all the laughs and fun moments.

My backers for believing in me and giving me a chance to plays these tournies. Specials shout-out to Ken and Craig for handling the money.

My PCF rail, a great bunch of friends that provide massive support during my poker trips.

@Tommy for allowing me to use the forum for the backing and trip reports.

Now it’s time to celebrate the holidays with my family. I’ll rebuild my tourney roll in the coming months and aiming to play WSOP summer.
I’ll be back in the US in April, not for a poker trip…but a 2 week roundtrip with my oldest daughter to celibrate her sweet 16.

Wishing everyone happy holidays and thanks again for all the support.

Peace out…love to all of you !

Thomas

Break

Blinds are costing me dearly 625K (average stack 630K)
59/144

Had to fold some good hands like AJs and 99 pre due to open push from 150-300K stacks.
Have 2 big stacks on my left so range is very capped atm.
