My neighborhood is hosting a casino night soon, and I was commissioned to make a portable small craps table. Its been fun to make, figured Id share my progress. So far the costs have been under $400.

Shes about 7 feet long, with a 6 foot playing surface.

Each sidewall comes goes together and locks into base and comes apart easily. Arm rests (split in the middle) also slide on and lock together and lock into the sidewalls.

Still have some extra felt to apply to the walls and paint this puppy black. Dont think I was going to make actual chip rails, since its a pain and budget is tight. plus, figured people could just use the normal plastic chip racks that would be set on top

That looks really nice! Where'd you source the layout / felt? I'm hosting a game in about a month and I'd like to get something better than the super-cheap thing I currently have just to lay out on a 6' table. I still don't think I'm ready for a really nice dye-sub custom felt (I'd like to build a table for that, like yours) but something better than the amazon $20 thing I have now is going to be better until I get closer to something like what you have here, however that happens.

Also would love to see pictures of it coming apart / together / stored, since you mentioned it comes apart in three parts... that's slick.

I'm not handy enough to build a table but wanted to feel a little more realistic feel than a simple topper on a table, so put one of those crapsmat kits on top of my Barrington table, added a proper diamond wall to one side, a few accessories, and it's worked pretty well for us so far. Goes up and comes down quickly and stores pretty easily

All complete! Turned out pretty decent. Wish I was a better painter though

That looks absolutely amazing! Wish I had that kind of ability. Great job!

That actually looks really great as a lightweight option that might fit my needs in the short- to medium-term really well. When you say "crapsmat kits" - what do you mean by that? Link?

Also those chip trays are sitting on top of... what? 3d printed stands? That's a really good idea as well to keep them level with the side "rails" that you have built there. EDIT: looks like they might just be foam blocks cut very precisely. Wondering how those work out for you. I have a couple of buddies with 3D printers, I might see if there's a way to build a stand that allows those racks to sit on there precisely but still give them a bit of height... that's a cool idea regardless.

What you have seems to be a great solution for people like me that don't have the space/time/capability to build a serious wood-based table but want something more than the $20 amazon felt layouts sitting on a foldable 6' table. Don't get me wrong, the players were okay with it but DAMN it would be nice to have some things that made that setup better for the dealer and the players. Including the dice wall. If you have links to materials / plans, I'd love to see them...

https://www.crapsmat.com/ (no affiliation, I just got one for Christmas)

I can't remember if I first saw the link here or reddit, but yeah, it works surprisingly well.

His kit includes the mat plus rails, with the chip racks glued into more blocks of foam, and has more diamond foam things to roll against for the walls. They walls are all just held in place by little pins, so you can kind of arrange them how you want.

It's very well-thought out for a portable home game set up and saved me a bunch of time in trying to put my own something together. Adding the real diamond wall to one end just made it feel more authentic to me.

I can take a picture of the other end of my setup so you can get a better idea, but first have to clean up all the chips the cat just spilled all of the place.

Also, sorry for the slight threadjack, @meatshield Your setup is way better!
