Advice about Paulsons for a noob (1 Viewer)

Very cool stuff. Are the stickers strong enough to withstand the test of time? Do people usually buy cheaper chips to this custom work? Those pink ones are roulette chips!!?
The stickers, made by Gear(with his wonderful @Wifey who is the contact for service), will last great. They can even withstand cleaning and ultrasonic. Should last a lifetime with normal conditions.

Yup, it's how you use cheaper chips for custom work. But some mill nice chips to get the spots they want for there design. The Degen runs strong in this place

I suppose josh knows what the population does but the frequency of custom labeling super expensive chips is alarming.

The labels are very durable and last quite a while. If you're curious, check out this thread: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/official-home-game-pics-thread.4135/ You will see all manner of custom chips being played for years with little/no signs of wear.

@Gear prints these labels with your artwork so if there's something you're working on, he's the person to work with. More info here.

And yep - they're roulettes! You'll see them pop up from time to time.

What set are you working on? You mentioned 300-400 chips. Are you looking to build a cash or a tourney set?

I run about 80% random useless hot stamps, 15% good chips but not rare, and 5% rare enough we don't speak about them. In general, the hype it's happening is alot more then it's happening. At least across my bench.

I’ll vouch for the excellent service and quality of the @Gear labels. He did my HSI fracs.
Below, the $1 is an authentic chip, the 25c and 5c are milled with gear labels:

I’ll tell you the adhesive on these is amazing. You can peel one off if it’s been there for a few hours. Once it’s cured for a few days, those suckers are on tight.

I see. Very nice. Might be something I look into down the road. Milling rare expensive chips seems like a strange thing to do, but each to their own.

That is very cool. Handy to have the 25c chips. How much was it to do those 25c per chip do you mind me asking?

Well, rare and expensive is someone's opinion. They are chips. Clay discs. If someone takes a rack that is "rare", but puts them into a person set that will be passed down in there family or played every week.... Is that misuse of something? I'd argue if they are serving there purpose and loved, then it's worth it.

Your perspective will change as you spend time here. Not saying it'll agree, could move anywhere on the scale, but this is a vast hobby with tons of passionate people.

Thanks for that. Very helpful little guide. I'll be aiming to build a 300-400 chip set that I could use for tournies and maybe the odd cash game too. I bought some of the Jacks in the sale that Poker Chip Room was doing. I plan just to add to it over time. Should be a fun project.

Very true. It's whatever you get out of your chips that matters at the end of the day.

Well, you're already ahead of a few people here. Good work.

If you ever need anything, always feel welcome to PM me. I'm always happy to assist if I can.

Cheers Josh. I'll let you know if I have any questions. Thanks for the help.

The chips were hotstamps, generally between $1 and $2 each. The gear labels are 30 cents per chip, and I milled them myself. Add extra if you want someone else to do the milling.
Certainly not an inexpensive venture, but considering a rack of the real 25c chips for that casino go for $600+, and the 5c chips don’t exist, it was easier to spend the required amount.
