Adding diffuser to ESPN table LED lights, any ideas? (2 Viewers)

Sorry, 30 seconds after hitting Post Reply, I think of something else...

If you'd like to power the rope without using a wall outlet, I recommend the power bank and (one of) the cables below. I had a battery box (8 AA's) that was specifically for powering leds, but when it was plugged in, the lights were dim and they would not respond to the remote or the app and the batteries were dead in no time. I'm sure if I had done some due diligence, something somewhere would have told me that setup wasn't powerful enough, but I lived & learned.

Ok I bought them and are about to cut them. Can I cut them anywhere? I just need to cut like 10”.

Look on the back of the strip - there should be a small line every couple of inches - this is the "cut line". Cut the strip 4 or 5 inches longer than what you need (at one of those cut lines) then trim off a half inch or so as a test and see if they still light up. Do a few more tests at a few small different lengths. If it lights up every time, you're good to cut wherever you need to cut it. If it only lights when cut at a cut line, you'll have to cut it at the cut line closest to the length you need. But, if you got the same one I did, it didn't matter where I cut it - it lit every time.

I hate giving advice on something I'm not an expert in, but what you have now is my experience. I wish it were better - my apologies.

Ok awesome. I'd still test it, though. I know I've bought exact items before that weren't quite exact as the first, especially when they were manufactured abroad. I am confident it'll work, though. In one of the install videos I watched, a guy was just snipping a strip randomly every few inches, while it was still turned on, and it never even blinked. Complete guess on my part, but I think it would only need to be cut exactly at a cut line if you were going to solder it to another strip at that cut point. Anyway, best of luck!
