Hello all,
I run a tourney every year for around 50 players. Coming up next weekend. They have unlimited rebuys for the first 2 hours (thru round 8). I do an 'add-on' at this time also. Is this the right time to offer the add-on? Or can they buy the add-on at the beginning of the tourney? I like the add on later. Seems to keep players around and ups the rebuys. But was not sure what was proper 'etiquette'.
Thanks in advance and have a great week,
Charlie

I like the way you do it because starting with more chips is a huge advantage. Those with more money or should i say willing to lose more money will make it less fun for those that don’t.
Don’t get me wrong if you allowed it I would definitely do it bc of the advantage but I think the majority would get turned off by it.

I also like the idea that you can forfeit your stack for a fresh start stack during the add on period to increase the pot.

Yes, we also allow for forfeiting your stack at the end of the rebuy period if players want to. I don't like the add on at the beginning of the tournament for the same reasons. It benefits players with a larger bankroll. I want it to be as fair as possible at the beginning.

This too. Both points.
