I'm getting the specifics together to host a 10-game tourney series in 2019, and could use your help! We generally don't play tournaments, but we're going to give it a try this year.

Suppose T10k starting stacks, and a buy in of $30.

1) ADD-ONs:
When do you allow them?
How much would they cost?
And how many chips do you get? (the full T10k? 5k? what?)

2) RE-BUYs:
When do you allow them?
How much would they cost?
And how many chips do you get? (the full T10k? 5k? what?)

Thanks!!

I'm finally going to get some tourney chips in play!!

REBUYS/CONTINUES: Once, when you get a Game Over (Busted/Wasted)
ADD-ONS/EXTEND PLAY: Once, after surviving a number of levels.

Tournies are work to arrange but are always a blast. Good luck and sounds fun!

Rebuys and/or add ons allowed until the end of the first break. Have to be felted to rebuy. You can choose to add on anytime until the break is over is what I think works best.

I prefer the idea of a second chance tournament these days, especially if you’re not used to tournaments and the higher variance. Your buy in automatically includes one rebuy/add on that you can use up until the end of the 1st break. This allows for your players to get a bit more of their money’s worth in case of a cooler or suck out situation.

If doing a second chance tourney, I’d prefer to raise the buy in price to $40 or $50.

Good luck with whatever format you choose

FWIW this is our structure

Suppose T10k starting stacks, and a buy in of $30.

1) ADD-ONs:
When do you allow them? At the end of the first break, we play 20min levels so after level 3. We allow 1 add-on and the add-on is not available if you had a re-buy
How much would they cost? for a $30 tourney - $5
And how many chips do you get? (the full T10k? 5k? what?) We do 25%, so the add-on would be for 2500 chips

2) RE-BUYs:
When do you allow them? At the end of the first break, we play 20min levels so after level 3. We allow only 1 re-buy.
How much would they cost? Full Starting price
And how many chips do you get? (the full T10k? 5k? what?) Full starting stack

For our group anyways we did not like the poker that was being played when there were unlimited re-buys and/or unlimited add-ons.

Rebuys: I never limit the number of rebuys. Unlimited until the stated end of rebuy period. At end of rebuy period, I allow short stacks to surrender and rebuy if they want. The cost should be the same as a buy-in unless there is a cost for food, alcohol, site rental, etc. This should be removed from rebuy cost. Rebuys should also receive a bounty. Up to you on whether or not to reseat rebuys, I never do. Rebuys should be made immediately upon being felted. If not done immediately, I'd say person should be reseated as a late registration. Late registration should be allowed throughout rebuy period unless specifically stated that it isn't.

Add-on: Should take place at end of rebuy period. Doesn't have to be the same cost as rebuy, but my preference is that the $/chip cost of the add-on is equal to or less than a rebuy, to make it more appealing even for taller stacks.

Alternative add-on: if the tourney has dedicated dealers or is for a charitable cause, sometimes a starting add-on is used for dealer tip or charitable donation. In both cases, the $/chip cost of add-on should be significantly less than the buy-in to make it "almost a necessity."
