I swear to god I’m not shitting on the buyers or the sellers. It’s apparently where the market is, because multiple buyers seem all good with it. So carry on with your crazy selves!
I’m talking about a sale going on right now where PCA $500s are being sold at $1700 per barrel. And I mention it only because it seems worth mentioning. Just the other night, somebody at my game said that that some PCAs were selling for $100 per chip and I was kind of shocked and actually questioned him. I didn’t realize any Paulsons in playable quantity were selling for that much, and I read most of the stuff that’s posted here.
I realize when it comes to money, everything is relative. Yeah, most people would say that if I’m paying ten bucks apiece for 25 cent chips, I’m insane. And it would be tough to disagree with them. So pot-kettle for sure. But still, seventeen hundred per barrel? Crazy times!

I think the hobby has became a collectors hobby.

Will it crash who knows? I don’t think so. In 20 years I’ll probably be pissed bc I felted everything and there will probably become a grading company and anyone with mint racks will have a fortune.

Or not…lol But poker itself isn’t going anywhere and clay chips seem to be.

Your threshold for price alert seems four times higher than mine lol. I’ve been trying to figure out why any tiger (or other NAGB) chip is worth $20+/chip. Is completely ideally optimally maximizing the aesthetics of a custom set really worth these prices? Idk man

You know, I just walked by my poker room and noticed the chips that are still out from the last game (sometimes I’m a slob.). And the $5s jumped out at me, because they’re almost glistening. I’ve never oiled them, and when they came to me less than a year ago, they were pretty chalky. These non-chalky chips make me smile - they’re getting used! I’m happy, my players are happy, and I like to think the chips are happy.

I always stayed away from NAGB chips initially bc I was worried their values won’t hold. But ultimately I was willing to pay silly amounts for custom chips for my happiness at my home game that I’ll never sell. I enjoy poker and hosting that much.

In regards to collecting, NAGB are the only/biggest risks imho. GPI could offer to the home market if casino biz dries up. Then what lol

I think casino chips are going to hold their value forever and Covid spearheaded this collectors hobby. If it was easy to predict or understand this then everyone in the 60s would have kept Mantle cards, baby boomers would have kept VHS Disney movies sealed, etc etc etc

Love the poker clean up process lol Sometimes the best shots of chips as evidence here!

I believe the highest sale price of record for one barrel on PCF is $6000...

This is my personal most expensive barrel:

More than PCA $500s for sure. But whatever car annual maintenance season is around the corner and will probably be more than that barrel of vineyard $500s again.

We’re in a vacuum.

We’re a bunch of wealthy people, selling to one another, causing our own inflation, raising our own prices, because it’s a drug.

Imagine a bunch of well off crackheads, buying more pure and more special crack rocks, only to sell them to the more needy crackhead, who needs a stronger high.

And if you don’t think you’re wealthy…. And buying this level of casino chips for shits and giggles…. I’ve got some news for you. :ROFLMAO:

Sure, some more than others…. But all of you are doing well. We all are. So go buy your expensive toy circle discs……. I know I will.

Nice! Those damn Kings Castle five hundos go for over $100 each on eBay (when you can find them). Did you have to piece that together one at a time? At least those are pretty scarce...there are 4,000 PCA $500s out in the wild.

I wonder who has this set of PCAs now: :bigbucks:

That barrel is all mint and all at once... so yeah...

That 4000 include primary and secondary? Or just primary? I just laid eyes on 8 racks of them yesterday...

Oh, and $85 a chip isn’t that bad considering the chip. It’s all dependent on said chip.

I wish I’d find some for $85…. Certain ones I’m hunting are literally twice that price.

@upNdown Go play with your sexy Dunes and laugh at the poors, you affluent PCFer  :ROFLMAO:
