Hmmmmmm If I buy this set can I convince my friends to start playing .25/.25 or .25/.50 instead of .05/.10
25/25¢ I only $25 for 100BB. If your players can't pony up and play that it would surprise me... What's the cost in fuel, food, beer, etc. If you don't say nothing and just get the chips I'd bet you they will have fun still. Couple times and they will prefer it

I play with alot of folks who simply won't pony up the dough to play even .25/.25

It's impossible to draw up any reasonable cash game. I'm not interested in running .05/.10

But yea, even with fuel, cost of beer etc, max they'll play is .05/.10

I just haven't networked with enough players who might join my group yet. I have like 2 other players who will play .25/.50.

This to me seems outrageous. I'm guessing these same players don't play tournament poker. The cheapest tournament around is $25 up to $100 for just small local games around here

It is agreeably outrageous but I'm a new host. Only 5 months in. I'll keep at it. Grow my game and attract more players.

It's interesting, my home game is all tourneys. Buy-ins are as low as $20 with rebuys. I've also run 2 $40 Tournaments, with success, but some still grumbled. Lol

It's a work in progress. I've started from ground zero...but with 2 Chanman tables and a fun vibe, I'm hoping it will improve

Ya keep at it. I have had success at playing in as many local tournaments I can find. The more you play the more you see same faces. Once you start to tap into that network stuff gets a lot easier. I always worry about stepping on toes of the other local hosts. My games are on Sundays so they don't conflict with the Saturday game at the VFW. Well people complained Sunday sucks because work in the morning. So I asked the host if he cared if I hosted Saturday. He likes my game so much he said sure and I'll be there. I said what about your game? He said he would have someone run it for him! I was surprised but it can happen! Hang in there and just continue to meet new people.

Cash games are way more fun in my opinion - and I can't believe people would grumble. Next time, tell them how much was spent on those tables and maybe they'll pipe down. haha

Ya can you imagine the table cost, chips, cards, chairs.,.. but $25 cash wayyyy to much. The damn casino wants minimum $100 and that's 33 BB WITH RAKE!

Damn you are rolling with a pair of Chapman’s and some so,I’d sets and you can’t scavenge up a .25/.25!? These people don’t appreciate you! Good on you though.

Seriously though just keep at it. I took over a game which had few regulars and lots of rotating players. It was ok at first but quickly fell to 4 of us who played for about a year weekly. Now we have a full table of regulars who are all good guys and we play religiously every week.

Keep at it and don't give up! The group I play poker with was the same way many years ago. We used to do tournaments only with a $20 buy in and rebuy. As time went on they got more familiar with and enjoyed poker more and got tired of busting out and waiting to play so we started cash games. We started them small but it didn't take long for them to be very comfortable with play 0.25/0.50 and now they don't want to play tournaments anymore.

A handful of them are even interested in playing higher stakes from time to time.

I’m with ya. In part I just want to be out for the night playing poker. There is a local tournament that I occasionally play in with a bunch of donks and often I am out in an hour. That isn’t very fun so for the most part I just stopped going. I want to make a night of it. With cash you can do that.

Hopefully there's enough people to start a cash game as they bust out?

Something that has worked for me, is ask the host if you can bring your cash game chips. I have him announce it before his tournament starts. So people that bust early can wait untill 4 players are ready. Usually it's only 4-6 of us but it's better than not playing at all.

The scrub donkey group buy is perfect for that. At 25¢ a piece you can build a nice low stakes travel set!

Ehh, this tournament is a bunch of donks that come for the free wine and food and to socialize since its once a month and it’s “industry” people hosted by the guy that owns my office building. I have already poached the good players for my game.

So they won't play cash game at the tournament event? They just leave after busting 40 min into a tourney?

@Eloe2000

I would consider buying the ones and fives if you would entertain a split. What would the price per rack be?

Thanks

$1 racks - $120ea
$5 & $25 racks - $100ea
+ shipping

If someone took all of the $1s and $5s I would allow the split by the end of the day if the whole set doesn’t go.

I still am shocked these haven’t gone yet.

It’s a turbo tourney usually of about 22-30 people that starts at 8:15 and usually ends in a split by 10:30 for people to go home because it’s too late. And that includes usually about >10 rebuys at full price 1/2 stack.

It's ridiculous considering casino worn HS Cinci/Clev sell for $0.80+, these IMO are definitely at least worth 15 cents more.

It is not because I am trying to sell these, but I honestly dont understand. There isn't a weak chip in the set and the HS $5s are literally the worst looking chip I have seen. And I like the Jack chips but at like 3x the price?! Plus I already have the fracs made for new chippers playing .25/.25. I would just keep them if I didn't go over budget and talk myself into this WTHC set.
