I host a 8-10 person tournament every once in awhile. I’m looking to buy a 600 chip set of Majestics. I want to build a custom case and will need an even number of racks so I will buy 50 extra chips. Which denomination would you go with? What do you think of this breakdown?

Individual stack:
15 @ $25 = $375
15 @ $100 = $1,500
15 @ $500 = $7,500
5 @ $1000 = $5,000
Total = $14,375
50 chips per rack

600 chip breakdown:
150@25
150@100
175@500
75@1000
50@5000

You can do 10 players with 400 chips: 120/120/60/80/20, which may expand your budget a bit. But if you’re set on 600 chips, the breakdown @RocAFella1 recommended is perfect.

But since you’re getting Majestics, and they come in rolls of 25, I’d do:
150/150/75/150/50, which will handle two tables of 9 if needed. Round out the 600 with 25 bounty chips, or something like that.

Anything over 400 chips for a 10-player tournament set is wasted money on chips that will either never get used, or will be ill-advisedly used while hindering play. Better to use that $$ to purchase nicer chips, than to create a larger set that plays sub-standardly.

To match up with the Majestic's MOQ=25 requirements:

125 x T25
125 x T100
50 x T500
75 x T1000
25 x T5000
--------------
400 chips

Allows up to ten baseline T10k starting stacks (12/12/5/6), with sufficient extra T1000s to color-up the T25/T100 chips with perfect efficiency, and sufficient T5000s to cover re-buys, T500 color-ups, and/or larger starting stacks up to T20k (T25k if 8 players)..... and all while using 200 fewer chips.

Thanks guys for the great input. I have a lot to think about! I really appreciate it.
