I want to get a bi-weekly tourny going around the start of summer. I had the idea in 2016 to have custom chips made, never got too far with it though. But I came back to this site after a long lay off re-invigorated. But I've been reading here how custom CPC chips carry a very very long wait time. So I think I'm going to get a medium size set of the Dia Di Los Muertos chips from BR for the here and now. Oh yeah, I have a question, or more so just looking for opinions from players. Has anyone played in a home tourny that used plaques for the largest denom? I'm thinking t2000, with 20 chips and the 2 5k being plaques instead of chips. Now I know this would just come down to preference, and I haven't come up with the list yet of the people for these games so I can't ask any of them.

Would anyone here dislike playing in a game that used plaques like this? I've never played in one where they even had plaques, so maybe it's just my brain telling me this would be awesome sauce because it seems like it would be cool.

Plaques are great. Use them for your highest 1 (or even 2) tourney denoms.

Totally agree...

Just got some plaques in today for my small stakes cash set from br poker... Great way to go... especially in the beginning and even middle. If and when they game gets going regularly, you will be able to determine what kind of game and chips work best for your ultimate set.

yes, plaques are really nice. in my case it would be a play feature or let's say gimmick which would make me coming back joining your tourneys.

well thank you all, looks like I absolutely need to buy some, they're expensive as hell next to chips but I'd only need a small number compared to the smaller demons. And it doesn't hurt the Dia Di Los Muertos plaques look pretty bad ass, well at least to me anywho. When I finally get around to getting custom chips made I want some sparkly gold looking plaques like I've seen some people on here have. I can only imagine those will cost $$$ though lol.

The design is called Dia De Los Muertos. That is Spanish for "Day of the Dead" and the design is inspired by the Mexican holiday of the same name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dead

The design was created by a PCF member. The design was licensed to ABC Gifts and Awards, who make custom ceramic chips and are well-regarded here on PCF for their chip quality and their customer service. ABC sells the chips through their BR Pro Poker website; you can order them here: https://brpropoker.com/collections/dia-de-los-muertos

They can be semi-customized by changing the denominations, so if you don't like which denominations are which colors you can change that around. You can change the $ to Euro, or leave it off entirely. For customization, you should contact them directly (use the contact form on their website) and let them know what you want.

Here's some earlier threads with some great pictures and commentary about these chips:
Enjoy!

This is a holiday every year in Mexico where they celebrate to remember family and friends who have passed away. I don't have the plaques, but the sample chips I ordered look really cool. Skulls & skeletons but not dark and evil. They're as you called them funny.

Pros: they look super cool, baller.

Cons: it tilted me when players threw them on the table

I know they would never break. But it tilted me so much I stopped using them.

For all you "normals" you're probably fine  :ROFLMAO:

Out of all the real casino chips I've bought, including chips like oversized Caesars $5, I think the plaques impressed my players the most.

Plaques make for a prestigious high value chip. Here are versions of 5k starting stacks depending on how many players I have. I have 5k plaques but it's nice for everyone to start out with one 1k plaque as their big value chip. So long as the table used has a decent underpad I could care less if chips are splashed.

My sets:
2 of 5 sets have top denom plaques
3 of 5 sets have chips as top denom (with one set having a 43mm top denom vs rest of the set at 39mm)
