What game would you rather play in?

Many hosts on here. How is your experience hosting games at these stakes?

- What has more action?
- Which one has a better vibe?
- How many re-buys?
- Your chip sets?

Thanks guys! Can't wait to get hosting again!

I said 5c/10c just because the progression of 5c/25c/$1/$5 seems better to me than 10c/50c/$1/$5 but I guess you can do 10c/50c/$2.50/$10 or whatever.

So ya easier to find a 5c/10c set but both would probably play the same.

I had a 5c/10c family game with oldies that played more like a limit game, but as the younger people in the family grew up and was of drinking age the game turned into more of a wild west multiple buy in type game. For example I remember my father-in-law losing 60 bucks one night. It's not that easy to lose $60 in a 5c/10c game!

$.25/$.25
I was going to say this. If you want to raise the stakes, just eliminate the smallest denomination altogether. But really, the game will really depend on how your group plays, starting stack size, rebuys, etc. A splashy .05/.10 game could play bigger than a limpy .25/.25 game.

100%

We started at $10 but now we are up to $20 buy in for 5c/10c. We also do up to $60 for 25c/25c. My people like deep 200+bb's. I could make it 25c/50c and the game would play no different. I don't just to keep the number of fracs down.

Really depends on your buy in, but I have hosted both and either is workable.

So what buy in are your players comfortable making 2-3 times a night?

If $20 is too much then definitely do 0.05-0.10.
If $20 is a comfortable buy in for players do 0.10-0.20.

My micro family game is now 0.10-0.20, and my custom set does use 0.10-0.50-1 progression and it actually works pretty well. But if you prefer quarter-dollar a 0.25-0.25 game (as @Chipandchair suggested above) with a 20 max is actually just fine too.

I usually play 0.10/0.20 for traditional NLHE nights. $10 minimum/$20 maximum initial buy in, unlimited top offs and rebuys after that. No one usually puts in more than $50 or $60 in a night. Most tend to buy in at $20 to start.

I reserve 0.05/0.10 blinds for circus nights where betting can get a little out of hand. It's more palatable losing half your stack when your nut flush is bested by a boat in a PLO game with those blinds rather than at 0.10/0.20 or 0.25/0.25.

Action is usually no more or no less between the two blind levels, but action is usually better when stacks are deeper.

My micro stakes set is 5¢/25¢/$1/$5. But I also have and love 10¢/50¢/$1$/$5 sets too. And we need some pron. ;)

Unfortunately I shared a pic of one of my micros with @MatthewTreeTree earlier but I didn't explain!

So the left stack here is our $.05/$.10 set. The right is a $.10/$.20 set! They are stored separately but could be used together obviously. I never had the intention of building 2 sets but finding the pieces I needed for the first one started accumulating lots of spares!

I did not share my recently built micro set which I honestly thought would take forever to build!

Funny things is that I have never played micro stakes. Only in the last few months stared playing cash at all. I have been playing tourneys for around 20 years. In our friends and family game buy ins for the tourney are only $10... so I hope that in time we can get them playing cash. That was the inspiration for the FOCs... the artichokes was simply because I absolutely love the $.05 cent chips!! Althought the cost of that set is damn near the same as the entire FOC colection.

Back to the OP... we play some games at $.25/$.50, some games are $.50/$1, and another game is $1/$1 they all play almost exactly the same. The only difference is your buy in. Typically based off 200 Bigs, so a $.05/$.10 your max buy in should be $20, $.10/$.20 max buy in should be $40. But that is to be determined by the host!

If you allowed a $400 buy in on a $.25/$.50game it will likely play like a $1/$3 basically meaning why play with quarters at all? It is all realative!

Figure out what you players are willing to throw down for the night, devide that by 2, somewhere around there should be your buy in and the blinds should adjust accordingly.

Keep it fun and affordable for all buddy!!
