Unfortunately I shared a pic of one of my micros with
@MatthewTreeTree earlier but I didn't explain!
So the left stack here is our $.05/$.10 set. The right is a $.10/$.20 set! They are stored separately but could be used together obviously. I never had the intention of building 2 sets but finding the pieces I needed for the first one started accumulating lots of spares!
I did not share my recently built micro set which I honestly thought would take forever to build!
Funny things is that I have never played micro stakes. Only in the last few months stared playing cash at all. I have been playing tourneys for around 20 years. In our friends and family game buy ins for the tourney are only $10... so I hope that in time we can get them playing cash. That was the inspiration for the FOCs... the artichokes was simply because I absolutely love the $.05 cent chips!! Althought the cost of that set is damn near the same as the entire FOC colection.
Back to the OP... we play some games at $.25/$.50, some games are $.50/$1, and another game is $1/$1 they all play almost exactly the same. The only difference is your buy in. Typically based off 200 Bigs, so a $.05/$.10 your max buy in should be $20, $.10/$.20 max buy in should be $40. But that is to be determined by the host!
If you allowed a $400 buy in on a $.25/$.50game it will likely play like a $1/$3 basically meaning why play with quarters at all? It is all realative!
Figure out what you players are willing to throw down for the night, devide that by 2, somewhere around there should be your buy in and the blinds should adjust accordingly.
Keep it fun and affordable for all buddy!!
