I am new to poker home games and poker chip appreciation. I'm a long time player, but as I get older I really want to play home games now and actually looking to host some. I found this on letgo.com. I was a little skeptical, but got it used for $150. It's sturdy, the top can be bolted if i choose but it just sits on top of the legs. It comes with a tray (not pictured), and drop boxes. A bit of a stain, but nothing I can't get over...
I'm just getting excited to start home games.

Now...i just need chairs and better chips! ha!

Yah, I'm still admiring all the chip appreciation. A few months ago someone gave me some old chips that I don't think get made anymore, nothing fancy, it's cheap. I really want to get a nice set! I really think I saved quite a bit for this.

We'll see what i can find out there.

Poker is in a downswing, don't know how long it will last, but I predict it will slowly rise as more states get into the online poker business. Now seems like a good time to get good used items for a home game. That's a nice table, good pickup for that price.

i think the pedestal alone is worth more than you paid. great pickup. (y)

Any recommendations for stackable chairs?
Right now I just have folding metal. But man, it probably wouldn't be all that comfortable.

Looking at some affordable chips now...

Sam's Club, BJ's, or Costco will have decent black stacking chairs for about $20 each.

Keep an eye on Craigslist and you may get lucky and find some Gasser chairs dirt cheap!! I picked up 12 of them for $100 a while back. Very comfortable!

Total steal. Huge. I think you could have paid three times what you paid and still gotten a great deal.
What percentage of people here have a table with a foot rail? I'd guess less than 5%.

Do not agree. WSOP numbers were up. It's partially related to the economy and things are relatively better than a few years ago. Some of the home games I know, have very very long wait-lists, even in NJ where they have had online poker for a few years now.

Great deal. And don't forget to buy a dealer tray ... :ROFLMAO::p

Great deal. As stated. The pedestal bases are worth way more than u paid.

The tray can be picked up cheap online. Just good poker dealer tray and there are sites that sell tons of these (based on size). You'll probably spend $15-20. As for chairs, I'd keep
Searching craigslist for "banquet chairs". Or office chairs.

Good deal. I'd say you def stole it.

Would be interested in the drop boxes if ever you get rid of them.

Agreed; great deal!

I don't think poker is in a downswing; as @kk405 says, poker is subject to economics. For most people, it's recreational money. Stakes changes and players change... or players find new games when their personal finances dictate different stakes...

There are always deals to be found on things like tables and chips if you look hard enough, because people run hot and cold in poker - not just in results, but also in the love of the game. Some people buy gear to host, and discover they don't like hosting... or they don't like the work it takes to maintain a game in their area... or they play heavier stakes than they should, and a bad run turns them off to the game. One way or another, they decide they want out, often under adverse circumstances, and they dump their stuff.

On the other hand, for someone who enjoys host and networking? Who finds the right stakes for the demand in their area? And who has a reputation for hosting a good, fair game with lots of money moving around? They end up with waiting lists.

On dealer tray - unless you plan on having a dedicated dealer who doesn't play, I'd say, don't get a dealer tray. Just do a padded insert to fill the space at matching height. As a former professional poker dealer, I can tell you that I hate having a tray if I'm playing the game.

I agree with this assessment.

While I wouldn't say poker is seeing a "resurgence," I'd definitely say interest has grown over the last few years. Lots of home game activity, and easy to find players to fill seats.

It actually came complete with Chip tray with a glass cover and key.

I just got a few chairs yesterday (banquet kind) with cushion.

Haha never satisfied is right.

Definitely used from Craigslist, but soft and no tears. 4 for $35. Didn't wobble. Too bad it's all he had.

Shoot...who wants to play? Hahaha
