New Year's Day: Served the annual savory and sweet crepes (and brunch in general) from 1-9pm for 50 of our closest tennis and foodie friends. At the end, got down to doing some serious damage to the wine racks, including ...

I bought the 1978 Brane-Cantenac in 1981 before moving from New Jersey; it has been tended pretty carefully. The other wines were stellar, but the B-C was huge, and showed absolutely no negative signs of aging. I served the wines blind, to a small group that included a former Los Angeles food critic and his wine importer wife. At 40 years of age, it was the finest wine we've tasted in years. The nose never did dissipate, despite aeration and decanting. Amazing.

I have a 1979 Ch. Cheval Blanc and a Clos Fourtet set aside for next year.

That looks terrific! Which resort?

Hyatt Zilaria. I can't say enough good things about this property. This dinner was at their Chef's Plate and was out of this world. The other restaurants aren't as nice, but the food is of no less quality. We were there for 11 nights (2 trips) in 2017 and absolutely loved it.

In Maui right now interesting stuff in the grocery store ... it’s not racist, right?

Didn’t think of it at the time, and time is of the essence when you are grilling outside at about 19 degrees. I do like grilling in winter though.
I cant imagine grilling in the coldness is much fun, although likely prevents excessive sweating from the grill heat... no worries theres always next time!

I just realized there's two threads lol. On my last post I meant to post that in the other thread and didn't even know this one existed. I blame the wine.

Cooked up my speciality for the wife for Valentine's Day.

Nothing tastier than toad in the hole.
