Thank you for the compliment. I just feel people are going to feel the way they do much like the political posts. We need to learn to agree to disagree.

I simply said I know who I consider a flipper and those that I do not. Your opinion may differ. That does not make either of us wrong, only different.

Maybe something is going on (I’m certainly not in on it). But in my case, I’ve been selling like crazy because 1. My chip case is full, 2. I accumulated way more of certain chips than I’ll ever put into play and 3. Gotta load up that PayPal account in advance of Black Friday.

The deposit is in place to cover some or all of their costs. If they realize you are not someone they want to send chips to after the chips are made do you think they will just eat those costs of material and labour? You think they will send you back your money while absorbing the costs to make the chips?

I can guarantee you that they won't. They will tell you to get stuffed and I would bet on that. That is just how business works.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. I really don't think you know with any degree of accuracy whatsoever what or how much I know, what data I may have accumulated, or what specific information to which I may have been granted access.

I do know the answers. As far as I know, there were 4 people who purchased BTP chips and later sold them out of almost 20. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That may be the case if you lied to them about who you are and what you represent (like you did). As that would be a breach of contract most likely. But if the terms of the deal are on the up and up and they decide to back out then yes, they would refund said money.

Sure,of course no debate. However, most buys in the past and the future will have some level of deceit involved as it is established that GPI does not want to make Paulson chips for the home market.

Even BTP which was the most legit was still shut down as it wasn't something GPI supports.
 
Potentially stupid question... To what extent does a company like GPI have to make a show of being outraged and scandalized if someone sneaks in an “illegitimate” buy?

Even if they really don’t mind.

Say, to keep their casino base pacified.

“Ohhh! Those PCFers got us again! Rest assured, we will convene a task force at 9 am Monday morning to put a stop to this dastardly trickery!” (Rinse & repeat)

Again, having never even sniffed the faint edges of the outer circles of a GB, I have no idea. Just a thought.

@Lemonzest, these two posts are completely inconsistent. Did you deceive GPI or not? I hope you’re not trying to draw a distinction between deception and lying.

My guess is that they want to just keep it all quiet. No blood no foul. They probably want zero publicity. It only becomes a *real* problem if Caesars and the casinos find out.

IMO their fears are more based around counterfeiting than anything else.

I DO think they mind as every GB represents a potential tarnishing of their reputation in the industry.

I get it, and I actually agree with your point that GPI would keep the deposit. But there’s a reason they feel like they are entitled to ...
 
Keeping a deposit would create noise, possibly a lawsuit. I highly doubt they would want that. A fair solution would be reached I suspect.

I am not saying they are wrong to do so. They should keep the deposit. If I was them I would for sure tell the so called customer to get stuffed. You played a silly game and now you are out your deposit. Don't be a dumbass next time. The people poo fooing there is any real risk are just plain wrong.

How about you quit speaking in hypotheticals, and actually share your first hand knowledge? Cats already out of the bag on SB chips (are you not the source of these? apologies if not).

I have a friend?/contact?, let's go with "friend", who works at Angel Holdings in Kyoto (new GPI headquarters). He doesn't have the ability to push a Paulson buy through for me, and to be honest, I don't know that I'd even be interested in doing so anymore even if he could, but he does have eyes on every order that comes through now. He is aware of our community's desire to get custom chips made (although he's not a member here). They do audit these forums with at least some degree of regularity though. He told me that there have been a few submissions this year that were initially approved, at least at some level (not quite sure what that means) but later rejected by someone on his team because they suspected the orders were not being placed by actual gaming entities (at least one of which sounds like it probably came from someone here, and fairly recently too). I suspect that someone/some group has a current order in place that is about to hear some bad news in the near future, but I don't know for sure if that group is from here or from elsewhere. Sounds like the new people in charge aren't planning on making any changes on who can order chips anytime soon.

Last I spoke with him, he sorta laughed at the chippers. He didn't seem to think we were much of a problem though, or at least he didn't give off that impression to me. Chips weren't/aren't the focal point of our conversations though, and for me to pry more than I already have would seem suspicious, so I'm not going to try, but it's an interesting peek through their window nonetheless. I'm curious to see if any rejected orders surface here in the not too distant future.
 
For me, the flipping just sucks for newer or quieter members. If you have people willing to pay exorbitant prices, I guess make your money. If it’s made on the backs of others, shame on you (obviously situations vary).

But for new people just trying to ingratiate themselves with the community, but can’t attend meetups and aren’t comfortable constantly asking questions/private messaging, it can be difficult to ascertain what the heck this market really looks like and who are good chippers to deal with (yes I get the irony).

Personally I think you can avoid flipping and increase the reach of the private sale community by creating some general suggestions and a status quo. My tag line states that anyone I buy from has first right at same cost when I sell. And I attach the same thought to sets that I let go from under market value to dirt cheap. It makes for a great little spiderweb network, which allows others to get chips in their hands they might not, and me to pick up chips I might not otherwise. Sure I take a considerable loss upfront, but if you’re truly looking at it as renting chips and not an investment, it works amazingly. I get that the well established chippers don't need any impetus/gimmick like this as they have an established rapport with who they want to work, but it's helped me a couple times.
