Current not-so-secret group buy? (2 Viewers)

To answer your first question, I don’t own any of the GB/NAGB chips, so my honest answer is that I really don’t care. I TRULY hope people can get their chips made, but I wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep if someone didn’t get their chips that they could flip to the community for tens and tens of thousands of dollars.

I prefer casino chips. I would definitely participate if ever asked, but I’m not going to pay the ridiculously inflated prices after they hit the market. Give me real casino chips for less cost any day!

There have been several ventures that have made it through, and GB/NAGB are discussed on here EVERY DAY! You have definitely been around long enough to know that. Apparently, GPI needs some better investigors to figure out what is going on.

Your remark about people not being included unless they are trusted like a sibling is utter BS, and you know that too. I believe you were a part of the “original” buy that started all this. There were many trusted members on here that were never given the chance, yet random people were selected to participate.

I do think it’s pretty obvious, but I could be totally wrong. I’ll give you odds that I’m right, though. Want to gamble a little?

I’m realistic enough to know that I’m not going to be included on any of the GB/NAGBs that ARE going on...sorry for that speculation. But I’ll offer you that “speculation” wager again.

The fact of the matter is that these endeavors are a hot topic and will be continually talked about. Personally, I find the topic very interesting. I’m not going to tell anyone to shut their fingers about it.
 
I will just say that, unlike @DMack, I am still holding out hope that I will be invited to the current group buy(s). I even will offer a 5% entry fee of the total cost of my chips (before shipping/taxes/other fees) to the orig. members for the opportunity (assuming I like them enough to place an order - hard to imagine I wouldn't).

I always have hope to somehow be included on one of the buys, whether it’s those that are ongoing or those that WILL happen in the future. The realistic side of me knows it’s probably not likely to happen. I am not in “the in crowd,” I don’t have a lot of connections, and I don’t have a lot of the wonderful chips that so many on here do. Having said that, Im not going to be turning down offers from those that are going to be blowing up my inbox with invites to current/future GB/NAGBs!! :).

There are plenty of casino chips for you out there. Go get em. But who pissed in your cornflakes today? You asked why be quiet, I gave you an answer...and why in the hell would I want to make some imaginary wager about something neither of us has or ever will know the details about?

Whether anything happens and either of us get a shot, why in the hell would any chipper want to stop someone else from getting them made? Seems driven by hate and jealousy and nothing more.
 
To all my peeps who I promised to get into GBs/NAGBs as I hear about them, my apologies guys. I'm trying. However, being that I've been in multiple GBs and literally sold all of my chips (for some pretty big profits), I'm never going to be asked again unless I run it myself. Plus, I would decline anyway because I've been fortunate to have some great opportunities that many didn't have.

To all the organizers, if you value my opinion at all and need trusted buyers, hit me up. I'm not going to fuck up your buy, but I do have interested folks that I trust will keep it on the DL.

Just fucking with you guys. I'm like @DMack I'd never turn down an invite for custom minty paulsons, but in the same turn you can take your super marked up flipped BS in the classifieds and shove it. To me you're a drag on an otherwise friendly and helpful community.

I have not been a member of any of these special buys, I do know some folks who were, but I was not invited or given any hidden details

However, I highly doubt "random people" were selected to participate

My understanding is that there is considerable financial risk in these ventures, and people were likely handpicked very carefully (and they still encountered issues)

I believe approx 50 people were involved in the boat chip buys, and I can only imagine how much more difficult it would be to get colors, edge spots, inlays, etc approved if everyone was invited (as well as the issue of discretion to avoid the loss of the money paid to get the chips done)

I honestly believe this is more of an excuse or false perception. The biggest risk is that the Chips dont get made.

For all those ongoing GB/NAGBs who need a consultant in navigating the process and GPIs due dilligence forms, hit me up.

Yep. Around 30+ initial Star chip buyers, and probably less than 25% that sold chips at all -- and even fewer that sold at massive markups. Relative percentages of BTP chip resellers was much higher, with the markups higher, too. And the SB chip sales were intended to fleece the community from the start.

People can still be classified as "chip collectors" AND look to make a profit by flipping some of their chips acquired in a group buy for 2x/3x/4x/etc... of their cost. "Cash grabs" come in all different kinds of shapes and sizes - just sayin (this is not a judgement, just stating the obvious)

Do you really think/believe GB/NAGB discussions on here are going to prevent people from getting their chips?? Again, GTFO. It appears you have more motivations for the way you’re talking than any of the “jealousy and hate” nonsense you are throwing out.

Randomness is quite subjective, but take a look at past threads about who was included and those that were left out. I’ll stand by what I said.

I also totally agree with @ssanel54 about this great financial risk. That is an excuse always thrown out by participants to justify their motives. How many people have lost A SINGLE PENNY in these endeavors?? I believe there won’t be one stroke of the pen for those on that list.
 
Say what you will, but "jealousy and hate" were directly responsible for people not getting chips during the Star chip buy.

And openly discussing any details of a buy in progress certainly increases the chances that the chips won't get made or delivered (which carries a financial risk).

@David O, my statement about the tens and tens of thousands was mainly directed at one specific flogger, but there have been PLENTY to profit from these endeavors. As for who is selected, I couldn’t agree more, that’s totally up to those involved. I’m just not going to kiss anyone’s ass to get an invite, and I’m certainly not going to try to regulate who can discuss the GB/NAGB issue.

You can classify them that way of you want but there is a distinct difference in those that sell for a cash grab and those who collect and sell at market prices or below.

I’m not going to argue with you on that, @BGinGA, but I took that as being directed towards me (maybe I am wrong). But what’s the financial risk? Not being able to flip for thousands?

So the initial sellers are the “flippers,” but those that sell afterwards for the same prices are market sellers? Just trying to get this straight.
