Given the preponderance of RHC chips in casinos and GPI's 'policy' of pushing them to the forefront during the order process (for various legitimate business reasons), they should just retire the THC mold from casino use altogether.....
And offer it only to the non-gaming market, with a large set of restricted patterns and colors, based on those combos previously offered for home use.
This would protect both the integrity of past casino chip design choices, collector chip values (a lesser GPI concern, to be sure), and the future design needs for new casino business.
They would sell millions. And that's part of the problem -- it's a good news/bad news proposition, with that many chips flooding the market and into circulation, causing concern (warranted or not) with their casino customers about security and exclusitivity issues. It's just not gonna happen.
I'm certain that there is a faction within the company that sees the loss of home market potential sales as money being left on the table, but have been overruled by those influinced by the faction weighing the risk vs gain of such marketing actions.
They have made some progress in recent times, hence the Gemaco lammer chip products being made available to non-gaming industry customers (through distributors). It's a nondescipt product (no company logo or markings), standardized for simplicity, speed, and efficiency in terms of ordering and production, and contact with the public is handled through distributors, so it's pretty much a no-hassle transaction point for them sales-wise.
I think this is the future jump-off point for any type of legitimate home-market offerings from GPI. Hopefully the corporate brass will be willing to expand that business segment into areas that are more in alignment with the desires of both the casual home user and the high-end chip collecting/playing elitists.
