43mm Project Discussion (16 Viewers)

I like it! Only chip that looks a little plain to me is the green $25. But I’d prob end up buying other designs anyways.

Would definitely like to see a second edge spot color on that $25, otherwise the set looks amazing!

I don’t need a 3rd tournament set, but these are looking great.

I think these latest mockups look sweet! It’ll be near impossible to make all chip/demons perfect but as long as you offer blanks then it’s as close as you can to satisfy almost everyone.

:( My parade is officially rained on.

Somebody hurry up and sell Josh on something else beside Horseshoe 25K for the Blue, sigh.

I think. Like the last green $25 with pink and yellow spots. And go back to the blue with green white spots. That chip is more unique instead of coloring a horseshoe 25,000. Imo
Whatever is the final I’ll find something to buy from this awesome design. Txs Apache!

If the majority wants the old blue I will bring it back.

Any chance for 25c and $1 chips or is this purely a tourney design?

This. Maybe I missed it but is there a cash set option? What about labels for custom denoms? Thanks @Apache , looking good.

the 25 is the only 2 color chip and stands out as a little weak because of it

Agreed...not pink though set has enough. But two colours for sure. Dark blue perhaps? Or white.
changing the pink spots on the 25 to dark green, lighter green or purple.
A second color on the $25 is easy enough if you guys want that.
I think a three-color $25 chip makes it more flexible to be moved around for those who plan on getting blanks. It's fine as a T25 at the bottom of a T25-base tourney set, but in other lineup spots (cash or tourney), a two-color version will generally not fit in as well as a three-color 818. I'd avoid using pink as the second spot color, but a darker green or dark blue/purple spot would work well with the yellow.

Prefer the old blue chip (or something besides a Horseshoe clone), but not a deal-breaker. Maybe replace the pink spot with white?

The new pink chip is very versatile -- can be used as-is (100k), or as a T500 or T5000 replacement, or as a cash set frac, snapper, or even a $5 chip. Great addition.

Did you consider using alternating spots on the $100 chip? (pink-blue-pink at 12 and 6 o'clock with blue-pink-blue at 3 and 9 o'clock). There are a few chips in the wild actually made like that, and it seems to balance out the spot pattern colors a bit (making it look less pink-dominated, in this case).

I am not buying a CC set, but would have considered this set if it were a 43mm Sun-Fly ceramic hybrid. And if it were the latter, it would be nice to have a strong purple chip as the $500, keep the flag as the $5K chip (as in OP) and move the orange chip from $5K to $1K.

Just doodling around...

I just noticed that all the chips have a 4x multiple on the edge spots other than the blue 25k. Maybe a 4TA316 edgepots instead for the blue?

Ok, I'm not trying to turn this design discussion into something it's not meant to be, which is a 43MM high denom tournament set. I'm just looking at trying to make a 43mm Cali cash set out what is here, so here is what I'm looking at.

1: With the blue chip from the original mockup:

2: And with the Horseshoe 25K clone blue chip:

Even though I'm not a fan of the Horseshoe 25K to begin with, the spot pattern (nor the large amount of pink next to the quarter) really doesn't fit the (cash) set here for me. I don't know if I can go with that. And to be honest the Green in the original Blue chip doesn't jibe with the rest of the (cash) set as good as I'd like either but I like the way the spot pattern fits in with the rest of the chips.

.......

lolz - I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. Really beautiful set.

The horseshoe 25K chip lets those of us who can't afford or don't want to shell out for a stack (or rack!) of casino used Horseshoe 25Ks a chance to throw them around the table a little in CC format. It's a color combo not found in basically any other CC chip. If it goes back to blue/white/green, it resembles a number of other mass produced chips (Poker Knights $10 chip, Pharaoh's CC 25c). This set is a high roller set. It's influenced by a number of great high roller sets from real life. The more unique a CC line in comparison to other lines and even in terms of its own chip designs, I would have to believe the more appealing it is.

Design by committee is a hard method to get right in terms of iteration and defining "minimum viable product". You're basically never done. I'm speaking from professional experience on this. I trust the direction of Josh and J5 since they're the chip design professionals and to move on to the next phase when appropriate.

I would suggest, though, and I mean this in the most respectful and thoughtful way possible: consider your position if you're not a fan of CCs or don't plan to pick up any to begin with. There have been a few people here on this (and the interest thread) for a year. That doesn't diminish any one person's opinion, but good design rarely relies on opinions and more on objective measures and critique. That said, the final product is very much subject to opinions: you'll either like it or you won't. And it has to profitable to be a success. That's true of any product.

Let me again state that I think @Apache and @Johnny5 are doing great work. Thank you for putting all of this together time after time.

I do not see the need for any major changes here. Center artwork is next!

Amen. :)
