Anybody else prefer playing poker with men only? (2 Viewers)

Women's enjoyment of the game (and men's view/tolerance of them at the table) is most probably correlated with how invested they are in the game, learning the rules, and learning the strategy. Out of all the women I know, probably only a handful are competitive in a strategy "game" way. But man, these ladies are cutthroat.
Most women (who gamble) love blackjack amd roulette. Minimal rules. Lots of noise, lots of talk, lots of action, and quick. That's where I can raise our money.

I don’t find any distinction between male or female players. For every “traight” folks are attributing to woman players, I can cite examples of male players doing the same thing.

I do believe there are currently fewer female players, so maybe people’s sample sizes are skewed?

And honestly, I’m not attributing any traits to the ladies.
At my best tournament win, I got rolling in the second hour, when I effectivrly doubled up through a woman who was playing very un-womanlike, stereotypically speaking. It seemed pretty clear to me that she had been stealing pots left and right. Not that it mattered, because when she shove-4-bet into me, she was getting a call anyway, cause I had aces. She had something like 3-8 off, and like I said, that got me rolling for the day.
But the point is, although I wouldn’t really associate that sort of reckless behavior with women, there it was, and I wasn’t shocked to see it. I try not to rely on stereotypes and I’m quick to dismiss them when I see something different.
But I’d rather play poker with guys.

I prefer playing with the guys, too. (y)  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, I want to play with people who are even mildly skilled at the game, regardless of gender. I've worked in male-dominated professions most of my life, including a stint with a major Wall-Street firm, and I'm used to being around men who aren't on their "best behavior." It takes a lot to offend me or to make me feel uncomfortable

Ditto on guys who bring a non-playing wife/girlfriend to a poker game. I mean, really? No upside there for anybody.

One of my buddies says it's because women are harder to read than men
I'll be careful here, based on my experience (which is a lot:whistle: :whistling:):

Most women are inherently better poker players than men. Specifically, they make better decisions, especially long term.
Most women are easy to read at a poker table. They must consciously learn to hide their emotions.

Oh boy, here comes the roasting.......

In general, if skilled/serious about the game, they are also more cut-throat and very rarely tilt compared to equivalent male players..... in my experience.

About 25% of our players are women, and they collectively represent about 40% of the top active players in our group.

I just played a home game this weekend (1/3 NL cash) and was pleasantly surprised to see four of the ten players in the game were female, feels like we've come a long way. Hell, the HOST was female! (molly's game?)

I don't have a problem with it, they tend to not bore me with sports questions all night since I don't really watch.

I briefly played in a game where I was the only guy. It was a bit awkward.

I'm sure that Mel would go out of her way to make me feel welcome and at ease..... and I'd be bringing chip gifts to help smooth out the path. :)

I never had an issue playing with like-minded women who know how to play a bit. In my mid twenties, when I played A LOT, I dated 3 different ladies who I met and hit it off with because we were all regulars. Gender never mattered to me except in those 3 instances when their looks drove me to distraction.

The only time I played at a table where all the other players at the table were women was when I ended up playing a single table (birthday) tournament at the Bicycle Casino with Teri Hatcher and Cheryl Hines after befriending one of the friends in their party at a cash game earlier in the afternoon. Made for a memorable afternoon of poker.
