.... I'm jealous you posted this instead of me....
5D chess being played here...I don’t even want these chips, but find myself following along because of the auction structure.
Or maybe I do want them, and I am meta gaming...
I hope your roth ira's are maxed out
Unless you are buying customs or overpriced mass produced plastic crap, chips keep their value pretty well. It is more like paying full value deposit for a rental, then when you are done, the next person does the same.look nice, but how do you justify that kind of $$, I hope your roth ira's are maxed out

This auction employs strategy, which is why I really liked the idea when it was presented to me.
If someone bids $8000 and renegs, then the next highest would be highest and it all shifts down.
If someone wants to pay $8000, I say AWESOME. It will make Jim seek out MOAR chip opportunities
Whoever presented this idea to you was brilliant.
Recognizing it, and then employing it genius.
(y)
Yeah, sorry about putting a number out there. I was just trying to say that high bids would be good for you and us in the long term. I’m going to be a bystander now.No one can renege. The clearing price will be the lowest of the 7 highest bids. It will be nowhere close to that price.
Every time I see your user name I think of the Simpsons where Krusty the clown says “Four aces is NOT a gamble!”Jim, great initiative! I like it! Everybody gets a fair chance in this.

Yup..hmmm
That was you though right? With that format auction?
Every time I see your user name I think of the Simpsons where Krusty the clown says “Four aces is NOT a gamble!”

I see what you did there...this auction, it's just so... silent...
