Indy 500 wagering (1 Viewer)

Booked - Buddy will be cruising along all day staying out of the way.
I dunno.... I'm seeing a pattern here:

Pippa v Lazier

2013
Pippa - started 30, finished 30 (46 laps)
Lazier - started 32, finished 31 (44 laps)

2014
Pippa - started 22, finished 24 (193 laps)
Lazier - started 33, finished 32 (87 laps)

2015
Pippa - started 25, finished 22 (197 laps)
Lazier - DNQ

2016
Pippa - started 25, finished 18 (199 laps)
Lazier - started 32, finished 30 (100 laps)

2017
Pippa - starts 27, finishes ?
Lazier - starts 29, finishes ?

Poor Buddy hasn't made it past half-way in his last three attempts. Pippa has shown small but steady improvement over the past four races.

To Dave and Chippy:

Wanna do an extra $10 on the top finisher among Munoz, Sato and Rahal?

New York Times said:
Scott Dixon, Indy Pole Winner, Robbed on Fast-Food Run

After winning the Indianapolis 500 pole, collecting a $100,000 check and doing the usual interview circuit, Scott Dixon tried to relax. Instead, he got the scare of his life.

As he ordered dinner for his teammates at one of the few fast-food restaurants still open near Indianapolis Motor Speedway late Sunday, Dixon and the three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti were robbed at gunpoint while waiting in the drive-through line.

Neither was injured and two boys, ages 15 and 14, were arrested a short time later. The police did not immediately disclose what was taken from the two drivers.

“While they were ordering with their windows down, two guys approached at gunpoint,” said Tony Kanaan, a teammate of Dixon’s with Chip Ganassi Racing. “They held a gun at Dixon’s head and asked him for his wallet and his phone. You don’t expect that to happen, especially here.”

Pick yer poison, Mike -- former winner, a rookie, or The Girl:

Pippa Mann 1000:1
Buddy Lazier 1000:1
Sebastian Saavedra 1000:1
Zach Veach (R) 1000:1

Unless someone already has something else to use....
I can email the simple excel sheet, it won't let me attach it here

I'm tracking it in Excel, but your presentation is nicer. :)

Did Mike pick Pippa? Missed that......

The teams are pretty even imo... Not surprising given the draft format... It's a big plus to have Dixon as the N1P but other than that, I think if I could chose any of the 6 teams, I'd probably choose my own... It's very close though... The one drawback on my team I think it's the likelihood of having the winner... I'm basically relying on Castroneves... IMO, David has Dixon/Carpenter, Dunbar has Power/Montoya, Dave has Alonso/Rossi, Chippy Kanaan/Pagenaud... I think Mike only has Hunter-Reay as I'm not a Marco fan... Anything can happened though, it's the 500!

It will be fun...

Side actions so far:

vs. Mike: I have Dixon/Power vs Mike's Castroneves/Kanaan for $20
vs. Dave and Chippy: I have Sato, Dave has Munoz and Chippy has Rahal. $10 each to the best finisher.

Here is how the teams line up mathematically, from starting position averages. I agree with Paulo, the teams are very balanced - not so much in terms of picking a winner, but for accumulating race points, I think they are very close. It's pretty much going to boil down to if the Honda engines hold up during race conditions. If they do, I like my chances -- I expect all five to finish in the top half of the field, with several in the top ten.

Any side action bets on most improved from starting position to finishing position? I'll take any comers vs Davison. :sneaky:

I'd expect top contenders to be Newgarden and Pagenaud. Paulo, Bill ??

I'm not an Andretti fan either but I think his car will be very fast. He was the best car available at number 7 I think. I just missed a couple picks I wanted given my draft spot. I thought I could get Kanaan but just missed it. The only pick on my team I really like given the draft spot is Oriol Servia. He has experience and has done well in the past. If the car runs perfect and a few top dogs go out, he can win.

Who do I really like in this race? Any of the Penske cars except Simon Pagenaud. Helio, JPM, and Power can easily win. Simon is only a star on the road courses IMO. Any driver in this race from Brazil is a favorite. If this was a horse race I'd go with this superfecta

1. Helio
2. Dixon
3. Andretti
4. Kanaan

I also want to have some action on Alonso, of whom I'm a HUGE fan... On the opposite side of fandom, I'm not too keen on Power (although he might be the best driver in the series).

So, I'll put $20 on Alonso against Power. Any takers?
