But I don't WANT to go back... (2 Viewers)

I go over to check on my S@P posting but that's about it. Nothing personal I just don't have time to post in two places and a lot of my favorite "fun" posters are over here. Also went to sift through pron for the HOF and was sad at the number of broken links. And not just on Imageshack pics

I haven't been offered any incentive to go back. :p

I go there for chip factory as needed, and accidentally log in via tapatalk sometimes but otherwise see no benefit. Agree the broken pr0n links have diminished the value. I'd rather focus on making this forum's content valuable and admittedly need to do more in that regard.

I go primarily for the chip factory but also browse the latest threads. Hard to get a handle on whether traffic has really slowed but it seems to have. I'm sure everyone is very sad to miss my irrelevant threads and constant yammering ;)

But we get that here, right? All's well in the world.

I've gone back just to use the chip factory, but I've noticed that much of CT emulates this site. Free calssifieds, etc. Too little too late. All the cool people are here!

...except for JM. :(

I honestly will tend to go wherever the big hitters are. Ie. BG, Links, Pugs, Jb etc

I want the best answers for any questions I may have. So right now I feel this is the spot. Your 'in the pocket' here.

Yeah, it's sad to not see that guy around the forums these days. Hopefully the new england crew still keeps in touch with him - dude knows his stuff when it comes to teh poker chipes. And while I've never met him in person he seems like a good guy. I hope he's doing okay.

Hes not posting anywhere now? just CT? I thought I remember him posting on here after the mass transfer?

Nobody really knows how he's doing. He was supposed to go to Bergs last weekend but like all the games in the past year (2 years now?) he's been a no show. Contrary to his CT post count, he's actually a very private person but since he still pops in via email about attending games I suspect he's doing okay. Maybe March we'll see him at BBotBB.

That's a big time bummer and I really hope everything is alright with him.

I respect what they're trying to do over there, but:

A) There still seems to be an undue percentage of whining/bickering (not as bad as before, but still...)
B) Most of the cool kids still hang out over here, for the most part
C) The new site is just too fooking slow for my cutting-edge (in 2004) internet connection(s.) This site is always much more navigable.

I haven't seen negativity over there since the people who were angry at Greg's inattention left ... with the exception of when they came back to complain about Chiptalk and/or promote PCF on Chiptalk.

I also haven't seen a single thread at Chiptalk criticizing PCF or the people who have decided to post here. There have not been any threads pointing out perceived deficiencies in this site, either.

JM came to a Truman's House game a couple months ago. Not the most recent one, but the second most recent one with BBQ I think. I was chastised by Jose for being to tired to play at one point, as i had been at Mohegan the night before with Bergs and Clay. That should help narrow down the time frame. Guinness, you must not have been there.

Since I was exhausted, I just hung out for a while at the end of my night there and stopped playing, and chatted with JM for a lot of that time. He seemed to be doing well, but as you point out, he is a pretty private guy. We have some shared hobbies out side of poker, and jabberred on about them.

I'm also "just checking." Mostly just the group-buy now that the calendars have been delivered. CT appears to be holding well, and that is good for Greg. A lot of the infrequent posters are still there, I'm guessing they were less frustrated by the downtime. Ten and his mom (I'm guessing) are daily posters holding everything together. My final brick to the head was when I asked a question involving the new site design. I never received a response. CT is still on my bookmarks bar, but it's time is limited.

There are 2 types of people in the world. Those that can successfully extrapolate based on limited data.

I just kinda mosey back and forth... LOL

Exponential if data is living. Linear if dead. That's all I have to say.

Like many others, I go to CT mainly to check the status of the CPS group buy, but I'm only reading/posting here now. I also canceled my annual Supporter renewal at CT.

It's absolutely nothing personal against Greg; I'm thankful that he gave me the means to become a part of this community, and I wish him and CT the best. But the community that I became a part of is now almost entirely here, and Tommy runs a kick-ass site.

I am a newby... I didn't even know these forums existed until a month or so ago. I spend my time here cause I like it better. Easier to navigate... Friendly people... Tons of information... Everything a forum should be. I visit CT and have posted a couple of times but just never seemed to fit in... I am sure there is lots of info and nice people there also... In fact I was looking for "top hat no cane" chips the other day and there was a lot of information in old threads over on CT. I acquired a set when purchasing a nice oak chip storage box.

I got no place to go back to. This is it for me.

Okb

Good, solid points Jeff.

I think the reason is because CT took money from its members (including mine) and didn't provide a reliable service. I cannot think of any reasons why someone would criticize this place.

I can say with confidence that if PCF didn't exist, the changes over there would never have happened. Maybe the upgrade to the forum, but not to his revenue stream.

Maybe that's because this site doesn't have the same deficiencies (perceived or otherwise)!

Anyway, agree with the view that the exodus to PCF motivated improvements to CT and we as forum users reap the benefits. An example of increased competition improving service levels.

Greg (if he was reading the threads at all) should know his fanatical base. ASM Vegas - remember them? Remind me again what turned the masses against Red. Perhaps a subpar product at higher prices and terrible customer service? Yes, we all know he was going through a terrible time. Perhaps Red was too. Still, this fan base tore Red asunder. He still gets kicked around from time to time on random threads. Greg should expect no different. Nor should any vendor. Or poster. Give us good products and we will give you an unending stream of income. Turn your back to us and you'll learn...

You hate with the same passion you loved with.

I never did any business with Red, but the impression I get from those random threads is that his customer service made Comcast look like the high roller suites at the Wynn.

Hating a website is a sign of an emotionally healthy person.

Kinda like trolling threads.

Maybe so, but would you say the same thing of a person who uses their Avatar to promote a competitor's website. I think the whole thing is ridiculous, and a little bit overdone.

I 100% agree that that particular action is in poor taste. It has also been discussed on CT plenty...where that particular discussion belongs.
