That looks like velvet was used for the field. Velvet does not slide. Ask me how I know.

I actually got sick to my stomach when I saw this thing. Any micro-biologists wanna weigh in on whatever is growing on this table? It might be a brand new organism. I call it "fuglyustableusgrossnus"

I think you guys are being too harsh on the guy. Look at all that calligraphy work to get ALL-IN carved into the playing surface with a cold chisel

Technically by their logic ANY table can be a poker table.

At least it's "stable".... Kind of. 🫤
Back in the day, these were simply sold as "folding card tables". The top is padded vinyl, making it easy to pick up cards, decent glide, and the surface was "stable" enough to stack chips.

Wobbly as f**k, but not about to tip over. Better for 4 player games, obviously, but before poker card games seemed to always be 3-4 players.

Its kinda funny that this needs explained to younger people. "Card tables" along with 4 matching folding chairs were standard in about every 70s household.

p.s. I remember showing my son (born in '96) the b side to a 45 record, he was amazed there were 2 sides.
