Looking for some guidance (1 Viewer)

I’ve been hosting small home games SnG format with a group of friends using standard dice chips. I want to upgrade but as I research what to buy I’m finding a lot of different information/ opinions. With a budget of $300-$400 what would you recommend? Would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction

I would start by looking at "Tina" chips. These are customizable chips made by a manufacturer in China. There are monthly group buys organized by Broken Arrow / Justin. The way it works is that Justin aggregates orders from people in the community, has the bulk order of chips sent to him, and then he re-ships them to each buyer. This can save on shipping costs and Justin handles the communication.

Justin has a large library of designs you can choose from, or you can create something totally custom if you have the graphic design skills, or you can use the tool I built, Chipmatic, to customize edge spots and colors and such.

Other options include sites like https://www.apachepokerchips.com/ . Many of their chips are the same material/quality as Tina chips (possibly even from the same manufacturer)

I was looking at these sets, how do you think tina chips compare?

I'd go with Tinas over these, BRPro over Tinas. BRPro you could do a 300-400 piece set for about $1/chip I believe, customize them, and get a higher quality product. Get samples though - you'll be better off than ordering blindly.

Nexgen Pro Classic are kind of their own category I think. I personally like the look of them, but I think most people upgrade from them eventually. I don't know about the other two.

In general, folks around here prefer Tina chips to any of those that you shared, but I don't have personal experience with those other chips to say first hand why. One of the big advantages of Tina though is that you can customize them and get just the colors and aesthetic that best suits you.

There is no canned answer. It depends on a lot of factors.

How many players?

Are rebuys allowed?

What's your blind structure/starting stack size?

Before buying Tina's, I'd find out how they wear. They are nice out of the box, but I wonder how long that textures lasts and how slick they become with a decent amount of play.

I don't like ceramics, but I'd look in to BR Pros. No long waits on a shipment from China.

if you can afford it, clay is your best option. Buy a set from a member, but a set from a member, or build your own. Ex casino sets are plentiful and have a cool factor that's hard to match with home chips. if you're not picky, you can get clay solids for about a buck a chip.

How would I go about located a set of clays? Sorry for all the questions, new to this forum/ buying quality chips

I would also add that if possible be patient & stick with dice chips a lttle longer while you increase your budget by at least 50%. I think you'll be a lot happier with your purchase.

The summary is: $0.47/chip plus shipping plus $80 if you get custom inlay sticker labels. Custom chip bodies don't cost any extra. Each month there are a few different inlay sticker labels that don't incur the $80 charge. More details in the thread.
