Long time waiting on chips from Okku (3 Viewers)

I suspect he probably does have the chips, but that actually getting stuff packed and mailed has become part of the problem + burnout.

I remember the early years with kids where even simple errands suddenly felt difficult to coordinate, especially when you get home from work and your spouse understandably needs a break too. Add in a new job, burnout, post office hours/distance, communication backlog, etc., and I can see how someone gets overwhelmed and starts avoiding everything (including working toward some organization to help themselves).

Unfortunately, while the best thing for him mentally might honestly be stepping away from the hobby/forum for a while.. New baby, employment instability over the past year, bills, stress… sometimes people end up needing the extra income from side sales even while they’re already overloaded and behind. That can create a pretty ugly spiral - and my gut on what's at play here.

That said, once multiple people are waiting months + communication breaks down, hard to keep giving “life happened” allowances and becomes a real accountability issue. I don’t think people are wrong to speak up at this point - glad these threads bring light for sure to keep us all accountable.

People do crazier things when they get into financial holes (cough spacemonkey), but I’m still hoping this is more burnout/avoidance than outright malicious intent, and that Oscar can step-up quickly to clear the backlog of any outstanding chip shipments.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

This happens to me too. I'm up front if I'm selling something. I'll say "hey, look, busy week this week, I'll get these out on the weekend", or "I've got some time tonight, I'll pack them up and ship tomorrow".

When the "to do" list is miles long, hobbies tend to take a backseat. But if my livelihood depended on selling things on here, I'd make it a priority to make sure I packed well and got everything out in a timely manner. I'm of the belief that once I receive payment for something, that person owns what I sell and I treat it as such.

I hate to hear/see Okku in this predicament, not sure what's going on. I had some dealings with him before he left where he use to work, the name escapes me because I'm getting old, but, he did some artwork and labels for me with zero issues. Hopefully he can make things right.

I purchased chips from him early January. After a few delays, I ended up getting them in march. Most of everyone else i bought chips from shipped the week of I sent payment.
Not nearly as bad as your situation though. I hope things turn out okay for you.

@BKisback your chips are packaged and you will receive tracking within 10 minutes.

@WedgeRock your cut cards are packaged and you will receive tracking within 10 minutes.

@Wheeler Assembly I will have you paid by the end of the month like I said in the last DM where I sent an additional payment.

Anyone else wants to pile on, go for it. Just now that I'm a dad, taking care of my family who depends on my income. I make it work. I have some leftover money to make these payments to @Wheeler Assembly like I said before. Especially last month after my dog had to be put down which cost us just over $600 of money that I really wasn't hoping to use for that. Rather I would've paid off my balance to you. and I'm sorry that's it's taken so long.

I think @Cratty pretty much nailed it on the spot and my wife has told me before, Danny has told me before and a few others to just take it slow for now. I want to take on larger projects, try to help out, but it gets to be too much. My boss even asked me probably a month back straight to my face and she said, "Do you have a problem saying, No?" I straight up told her, yes. Because it's true I do.

I'm not depressed. If you look at my Facebook or instagram or whatever you might find me on socials. I'm actually very happy. I love my new job, it gets me excited every day to go do something I love. I learn new things every day and so much more. It's much different from where I was.

I'm doing my best. If I don't get back to you, press me about it, make me do it and just do it that way. Don't let me linger because I'll end up forgetting.

For those that had a design delay or something wrong with a design, @GamingWithChips I know I started a project with you. Sorry we never got around to finalizing it. I've seen you take it upon yourself to get quite far.

And if my rep here is ruined, I guess that's how it's going to be. I'm not sure how I'll bring it back. I don't collect chips like I did during the start, during covid when I was buying everything in the world, doing research, making all the videos I did and whatever else. It was fun, I still have fun coming on this site, but idk I feel like the chip aspect is cool, I just don't do it like I did.

Long story short, packages are shipped, tracking numbers are being made, labels onto box, shipped tomorrow.

On behalf of both Oscar and myself, I wanted to give a little context, but also be clear that this is Oscar’s responsibility.

Oscar has been carrying a lot between work, family, young kids, and life circumstances, and he has been burned out. That said, none of that excuses delayed shipping, missed communication, or anyone being left waiting after a deal was made.

I understand why people are frustrated. I agree that he took on more than he could realistically handle, and he needs to be more honest about his limits going forward.

I was trying to help and defend him because I care about him, but I don’t want that to come across as making excuses. The important thing now is that he gets organized, communicates clearly, and closes out anything still owed.

Thank you to the people who have been patient, and also to the people holding him accountable.

Tracking received.

Sorry to hear about your dog.

If I don't get back to you, press me about it, make me do it and just do it that way.
Three DMs that you did not respond to and a more than a month to ship out a product you confirmed you had in hand. What else can I do?

@MrsOkku, for me at least, it's the lack of communication as much as anything. If you want to help him, get him organized. Create a list of projects/tasks/shipments that need to be done and keep him on task until the list is complete.

Or @Okku and @MrsOkku, it might be time to trim the fat and circle the wagons.

When my wife pushed out our first kid I dumped a bunch of stuff. Quit doing stand up, dropped the gym and lifted at home and made sure my #1 priority was being available for the family.

So, like, basically anything that isn’t a second, guaranteed paycheck for you Oscar, should be absolutely let go. At least for the time being. Trust me once your kids get older and start wiping their own asses, you will get a lot of the free time back that you gave up.

Then you can pick back up the hobbies or little cottage industries that make you some scratch.

Right now if you have free time and energy I suggest getting a night job. The family is asleep at night so you can double dip w/o sacrificing time away or paying for child care. Right now this should be your plan. It’s boring and lame and you will wanna do your hobby stuff.

Honestly, now that things are being made right, I think the best thing for Oscar is to just take a break for a bit. Let the family settle and relax. Don't take on work or do any transactions for a while. Be a casual member of the community until things calm down. You've got enough on your plate and the cracks are showing. Take time off from services here. Come on back when the cracks are patched up and life is more stable.

That’s because you’ve been here for 9 months. If you have a transaction to share, tell your story. But there’s no need to wonder why people love the guy - it’s all here on pcf. Scroll back and do some reading.

You still have a lot of friends here, reach out...and let us help you in any way needed.
Small steps forward and prioritize, focus on your family & job and put chipping & artworks on the backburner until you found balance again.

Be well my friend...and don't forget, sleep deprivation is a real killer (a good night's rest is the basis to deal with busy days)

Don't go yet!! Transfer me all your Rewards Points first :sneaky:

On a serious note, that was a pretty tame/soft reply. He is just saying there is a reason Oscar was an upstanding member here with plenty of (public) history to back it up if you felt like digging a wee bit.

Hoping for the best for everyone.

As always a little communication goes a long way. Keep that in mind, ghosting someone for months on end doesn’t look good on anyone. Best of luck in the future.

Sorry to hear, maybe give PCF another shot.
Don't feel offended by @upNdown his post....consider it a prime example of the trust that was built on this forum over years & years.

Everyone can go through a rough patch, in almost all of these cases....PCF has the back of trusted members.

And maybe if you would change you username to IowaScarney or IowaPopCorN, you would have more friends :ninja:

JOOOOOOKE, it's a joke !!!! j/k

That's sad to hear. There are a few OGs here who are pretty annoying and toxic, but overall this community has been pretty welcoming to me. That said, there is a bit on an inner circle that us newer guys just won't be apart of.

Also @upNdown is a pretty cool dude, I can tell you he meant no offense. It was more just an explanation of why Oscar gets so much leeway here. He has the history that earns that leeway.

While I’m appreciative that you SAY I’ll be paid in full by the end of the month, you’ve made several similar claims over the past 19 months. The ultimate measure of a man is the strength of his word.

I sincerely hope we’re able to put all of this behind us in the next 11 days as I don’t wish struggles you’ve mentioned on anyone.

Here I was, hoping he came back to talk about the chips and money he owes.

Now I'm thinking about him crying and vomitting. And a wife laughing after saying she made him cry. This is too much, GL to all involved!

I'm gonna throw @mattross1313 under the bus as a designer. It was the opposite; too many updates and cool designs distracted me from my day to day work, the over communication was intimidating and he forced my hand to purchase Tinas within minutes of me joining the forum. The blame falls squarely on his shoulders.

Believe me, there is no such thing as a PCF inner circle.....the only difference (IMHO) are meet-up's.
When you, after years of online interactions,, finally share the table with these members...it all makes sense.

I made multiple friends for life on CT/PCF, that welcomed me in their home and treated me like family.
Just based on ONLINE interaction with members that are 1000's of miles away.

That's awesome. I just was thinking there was just a club of older cats from the chiptalk era that have known each other for a while. More like a club of people who have known each other for such an extended time and met in person where you aren't going to build that in just a couple years. Its not a bad thing. It happens in pretty much every fandom. So maybe not an inner circle so much as an OG circle. Again, nothing wrong with it. Most of ya'll are super welcoming.

The silver lining for me was I got to make it exactly how I envisioned it and I get some satisfaction knowing that I did it myself (…with some good advice and ideas from people here lol)

No hard feelings. Just hope you can clear your plate and start anew. Best of luck!

The meetups are a beautiful thing! I would encourage everyone to try to make it to at least one.

I was on Chiptalk 20+ years ago, but never attended a meetup until last year. I just arrived in Virginia to attend my 4th now!

Seriously, I was timid and unsure walking into my first one, but was immediately wrapped in and treated like family. I have met some of the most upstanding, interesting, creative, and intelligent people at meetups.

Alright. Ya sold me. If my current designer turns down my next project, I'll harass him.

Highly advise. Was very clear when he was too busy and transparent about his queue, but when you get to the front of the line he makes you feel like the only girl at the ball. Big fan.
