Long time waiting on chips from Okku (2 Viewers)

I will not be surprised if there is more of this out there. People have tried so hard to be quiet and respectful. Hopefully the chips exist and were not sold 3 times over, etc. If it's just a logistical thing, maybe someone near Vegas can pick up product from Okku and get things shipped out.
 
So what I’m hearing is he has had many chances, but very few if any positive results. Definitely an enter at your own risk category now. It does tell me the forum will support members, but Oscar has to be skating on very thin ice,, he will have to walk on water to save his rep here soon.
 
I know the feedback system isn’t perfect, but I’m confused why so many members have had issues with @Okku , yet he doesn’t have any negative feedback ratings.

I can’t say I’ve ever left negative feedback, but if someone was ghosting me and/or not paying for/sending chips for months, I wouldn’t have any issue doing so. This might be the only thing that would cause me to leave negative feedback.

Not a perfect solution by any means, but ignorant members have no other means (outside of threads like this) of knowing they should be careful in dealing with this member.

Sounds like he’s been doing this to multiple members for periods stretching into YEARs now. Hopefully those waiting for $/chips will be made whole soon, though I’m not holding my breath.

I do think there is a certain element of not wanting to leave negative feedback in hopes that your deal will end up being completed. I can see someone thinking that leaving negative feedback hurts their chances of getting their situation resolved.
 
I have been called out on here for stuff by some of the chip snobs. So as a rule of thumb I’ve tried to take the high road. He obviously had some stuff going on and I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. Unlike some members. I’m able to forgive and forget but the fact that Okku hasn’t replied to this says a lot.

Organizing a GB is like a job; I did one small DB GB once, and vowed to never do another. Thankfully BRPro was good about providing some extras to account for my shipping/organization deficiencies.

Sidenote: might be back in the area around Independence Day. Would love to get a game with some of the local chippers if people are in town.
 
Sad to see a pillar of the community having these issues. I personally had a good interaction with him. I just figured he was busy so a little under a month for art didn't trip alarm bells.

I never got the details, what exactly happened with the cut cards? Did people lose money or did it just fall through?

Nothing on the calendar yet, but I'm out of town the weekend before that. Are you in July 4th weekend?

If anything I’m a Grey Knight. Little bit dark and light. Just depends on the day, moon cycle and my med levels.

And don’t get me wrong I like Oscar a lot. He did get flakey on the comms months back but I wasn’t trying to pile on. It was more like a message to Oscar. Like bro you are making your street cred go bye bye. You know, a little bit of the community leaning on him ya know?

I just think it’s funny when people reply to me saying I shouldn’t be posting dm’s or whatever. It’s not like I was the only one to see his post over there. It was also like “Hey guys I don’t think he’s dead, he just posted!”

This blows. I recently did a little design work with him, with no issues, in part based on the many recommendations people made. I would not have done so had I known these issues. I choose to not do business or give money to people who behave like this. I am continually amazed by the amount of excuses making people on PCF make for situations like this. It simultaneously buoys my faith in humanity that there are so many understanding and empathetic folks out there, and beggars my belief that people will defend behavior like this.

This is hardly an isolated incident and these threads unfold predictably. Particularly unfortunate that this is a long time member, with roots, but doesn’t change what seems to be the well established facts from many separate incidents. This is what the FBI calls a “clue”.

That’s because you’ve been here for 9 months. If you have a transaction to share, tell your story. But there’s no need to wonder why people love the guy - it’s all here on pcf. Scroll back and do some reading.
 
Ya, my interpretation of the situation was that “all” of this was happening in and around mid last year and has extended to today.

I saw many people speak very highly of him and I started to think I just got unlucky in my dealings with him.

I still fully believe he’s a good guy and didn’t do this on purpose, but just got caught up in everything all at once and thought he’d be able handle everything when he couldn’t.

Not trying to make excuses for his behavior though, I voiced my opinions to him about how just baseline, simple communication would have resolved my issue with him, and I’m sure it would have resolved a lot of others and not boiled up to this point.

Dude was a made man from what I picked up. And he has WAY more shit on his plate since they made a human.

His character has been solid for a long time. That’s why every time this has came up people are like wtf?

It’s like if @BarrieJ3 started being cool and making funny jokes and comments. Everyone would be like “What the Fuggg?”

I bought some singles from him than can be dropped off at any mailbox in 2023 or 24?, but he didn't ship for two months. I was able to get a hold on him, but for some reason he didn't ship while he was posting more chips for sale. Only heard back that he will ship tomorrow, multiple times, then two months later he shipped. I didn't speak out because I had good faith he won't make the same mistake again.
 
Seems like all the delays is pending to Chips sales and not design issues.

Maybe he is selling chips that he doesn't actually own or he sold the same chips to several buyers at once? Just my guess

I suspect he probably does have the chips, but that actually getting stuff packed and mailed has become part of the problem + burnout.

I remember the early years with kids where even simple errands suddenly felt difficult to coordinate, especially when you get home from work and your spouse understandably needs a break too. Add in a new job, burnout, post office hours/distance, communication backlog, etc., and I can see how someone gets overwhelmed and starts avoiding everything (including working toward some organization to help themselves).

Unfortunately, while the best thing for him mentally might honestly be stepping away from the hobby/forum for a while.. New baby, employment instability over the past year, bills, stress… sometimes people end up needing the extra income from side sales even while they’re already overloaded and behind. That can create a pretty ugly spiral - and my gut on what's at play here.

That said, once multiple people are waiting months + communication breaks down, hard to keep giving “life happened” allowances and becomes a real accountability issue. I don’t think people are wrong to speak up at this point - glad these threads bring light for sure to keep us all accountable.

People do crazier things when they get into financial holes (cough spacemonkey), but I’m still hoping this is more burnout/avoidance than outright malicious intent, and that Oscar can step-up quickly to clear the backlog of any outstanding chip shipments.
