I'm headed to Vegas May 24th - 29th for 5 nights of vacation at the Park MGM with my wife. We see shows, drink drinks, go to good restaurants, spend time by the pool... and I play poker!
We use my poker winnings through the year to pay for our vacation and we've been fortunate enough to make it work every year since we started doing this in 2020. We always go to Vegas right around end of May / early June due to our university schedules, and sometimes it coincides with the WSOP and sometimes it doesn't. It turns out that this year I'm there for Day 1 of the WSOP on Tuesday the 26th.
I've moved away from tournaments to play mostly low stakes 1/3 NLHE cash games while in town (usually at the Paris, Aria, Bellagio, and Wynn), but this year I'll also be taking a shot at the $70 "landmark satellite" for Event #1 - NLHE Mini Mystery Millions. They're running this low entry fee satellite on each of the six Day 1 Flights (A-F).
If you're not familiar with it, a landmark satellite is a race to a certain number of chips to get you the entry ticket to the main tourney, not a set number of seats for the "x" number of final players.
In this one, the starting stack is 10,000 with 10-minute blinds (!) and anyone reaching 100,000 chips gets to advance to the main tourney Day 1. It will be a ultra-turbo race to the finish line for sure!
Should I be fortunate enough to (1) win a 10x starting stack chip race and get a seat into Day 1, and (2) survive 22 levels of my Day 1 flight, I'll make it to Day 2 on May 31st. My wife said that if I make it that far, that I can find a cheap hotel and stay in town to play while she goes home.

She's not a poker player, but she is very supportive of my (hopefully) for-profit recreational poker time.
I'll come back here and post my progress, both in the tourney and cash games played during that week.
T-minus 12 days and counting until we fly out... Wish me a a red-hot "sun run" starting the week of Labor Day!
