Whats your favorite coffee? (3 Viewers)

Still having some hiccups here and there but finally starting to figure it out. Swapped out the Breville for an E24 and dedicated grinder. Difference is night and day with a good grinder.

One piece of advice that I kept reading and decided to follow was that the grinder was as important as anything. I spent $150 on a hand-cranked grinder because I didn't want to drop serious money on a good electric one. But yeah, either way, I think it's good advice to spend on a grinder.

such a voyeur with that mirror placement...
There’s not a great place to put it right now honestly with the massive cheap scale I’m using. I didn’t realize the bookoo would take a month to get here. I’ll be trying to dial in something new by the time it shows up.

The basket that came with the bottomless portafilter is also way bigger than I’d like. IMS competition basket should be here tomorrow.

I believe it now. I had never seen thick crema come out of my machine like I did on the very first shot with a dedicated grinder. Realizing my previous good shots were probably luck more than anything else.

I actually didn’t spend a ton on this grinder. Seems they’ve come a long way fast.

I was willing to spend way more. I initially purchased an $850 grinder that arrived defective. Researched a ton more and decided to gamble on the good reviews of a $250 one instead. Seems to be built like a tank and has a lot of micro adjustability.

Has anyone tried https://www.firedeptcoffee.com ? Any good?

We usually buy the Starbucks house blend beans at Costco. We do a Starbucks run every Sunday morning and I get a Blond Americano. There's a Dutch Bros being built across the street from the Starbucks lol. I've had an Americano from them too and it was pretty good.

We had a Nespresso 5+ years ago. My main complaint about it was the coffee would be luke warm. So we eventually stopped using it and got rid of it. Then my wife bought an espresso machine for me (us) this Christmas. You put in the beans and it grinds and makes whatever you select. Americano is one of the options. So deja vu, it is also just luke warm! I like my coffee burning hot so I can put it in my Yeti and take it to work. I would have to make a cup, then microwave it for a minute, then pour it in. Still not as hot as our coffee maker so I never use it.

I keep getting ads for that Perc coffee. Good to hear it's not just advertising hype

That Perc Coffee has been on my radar as well.

One thing I should note about the Perc coffee is that I find I need to grind a little bit extra to make it taste the way I want. I like my coffee pretty strong so take that with a grain of salt. Normally when brewing I let the water and grinds sit longer than normal to get more more extraction.

Ok this thing was worth the wait and is actually cool as shit with some great features. Built like a tank too.

Automatically detects the cup and adjusts for it. Detects when liquid starts and stops flowing into the glass and starts/stops the shot timer automatically.

No longer feel crazy for spending on a scale. Thanks for the rec @davislane
