Case is cool, chips (maybe) $1each?? Maybe somebody’s willing to pay more but they aren’t my cup of tea. But for 100 bucks it was a decent score for you. At least it was until there was a hotel room stay, gas and food involved lol.

Also, this has absolutely nothing to do with me and this guy. I’m sure he’s a swell chap and I was not expecting to get these chips. Especially after posting the help wanted ad.
The only head scratcher for me outta all this is that he actually thought I would pay him $500 for his help on top of the price for the chips.
Like, did he seriously think I would take that offer?
And I think he will come to regret his lil road trip… Obviously he has no intention on keeping the chips. Or he hasn’t stated that yet.
So, after I said no thanks he made a calculated decision to go buy the chips thinking he’ll clear at least $600 (with his $1,500 value estimation).
In reality if he moves the chips it’ll be a wash. Won’t sell for more than he’s invested.
More realistic he got a 299 chip set for maybe about $400. That’s my rough math for his trip. $150 gas $150 hotel. Food don’t count cuz he’d be eating anyway.

Hey @Papasatyr i found a few add-ons to your set.
These are three mint Paulson chips from the pre-poker boom era. I’ll send these to you for a small fee.

Haha I thought of that! It’s only about 26 mins round trip for me so no need to add on meals or hotel. It’s higher EV for me to take the cash instead of food/lodging that I already have.
Unless these chips ARE worth $1,500 then f**k it I’ll take a Culver’s burger and shake along with my cut.

If anyone needs harvested MD Live $2 chips, let me know - I can get some for $12/per.
This may sound like a lot, but keep in mind I should be compensated for my time, my gambling losses in acquiring the chips, gas, and my fat ass might need to stop and get some food on the way home (Dave’s Hot Chicken, not that weak KFC/Chick-Fil-A garbage). You still save because I don’t need to factor in the cost of a hotel in the price.

Thank God! I can only imagine what overpriced hotel your ass would be staying in by looking at your food choices.
Let me guess if you had to stay the night while harvesting, you would just have to pick the penthouse also. You’ll say you need the room for all the harvested chips, Dave’s Hot Chicken debris and your own fat ass.

Beat up starbursts will still draw around $0.60-$1.00/chip, post-COVID inflation bump. Sharpen those edges up, now they're $1-$2.
These will easily fetch $2/chip, or $600, on eBay with zero effort. My total expense to get them is ~$400, so that's $200 in pocket. Sharp edged Paulsons of any stripe routinely fetch $2-$15/chip. These dont have edge spots to add value, but they are a less common, but not quite rare, chip. So, $1000 is reasonably doable with some patience, and I could push for $1500 if I'm willing to repeatedly relist for months until somebody bites. Here on PCF I'm dealing with more knowlegeable buyers, so they're likely worth a little less here. That's not uncommon, btw. I have bought and sold a few chips in the past.
And "wear and tear on you car" guy...what kind of chipping spirit is that?! Of course I'll drive to get chips! 101 from Berkeley to Eureka is a gorgeous drive, and worth the trip even without chips being involved. Even if I'm losing money, I'll often drive to get chips. I live in a small space, so said case gives me a nice felt to work with for limited chipping adventures, and a nice 400-piece rack so I can continue my collecting activities.
I have a thing for collecting shuffle sets on every mold I can find. I have some really cool ones too! Have you ever handled cord molds? Mine were heavy-ass, 10.5 gram mini-bricks, yet are thin enough they fit 21 in a rack row and are closer to 37mm than 39mm. You wanna talk about a nice lethal amount of lead!

You forgot to mention eBay fees, shipping, driving to the post office, eating lunch, running a red light and getting a citation, guy in front of you is driving a dump truck with gravel, broken windshield another $800-$1000, you’re in debt my boy. Better luck next time.
Those chips are worth $300-400 max, even on eBay.
