Not sure where to put it, but I had to share.

Played in a 20 person tournament last night. Starting stacks are 15k (with a shitty chip breakdown) and 100/100 blinds.

I start in the SB. There are 5 limpers, and I look down at AJss and make it 900 to go. 4 calls. 974r flop, so I check. It checks around. 10 turn, I lead for 1k and get 3 callers. Brick River and I check and someone bets. I fold.

Very next hand on the button, 4 limpers, and I have AKhh and make it 800 to go. 3 callers. Q 10 x flop. Checks to me and I bet 1k again. 1 caller. 2nd heart on the turn, checks to me and I check Q on the river and he leads out, I fold.

Hand 3… 10 3 off, I fold.

Hand 4, 3 limpers and I have AA (s/c) and make it 800 again. 2 callers. Flop is 522r and it checks to me. I bet 2K. UTG raises to 4k and it folds to me, and I shove. She calls and shows…

FFS!!!

Rebuy after 4 hands.

The “funny” thing is, this is not the 1st time I’ve been felted with AA by 10 2. Golf trip last year my buddy who has no poker experience said 2’s were hot. I raised, he reraises, I 4-bet and he shoves. I call and the flop is 722. GG

The OP reminds me of every online tournament that I've ever played in. Players calling substantial preflop raises with garbage, hitting monsters on the flop, and knocking out players with good preflop/bad postflop hole cards.

I've learned to wait until later in the tournament to shove. Most preflop calling stations have busted by then, and your preflop raises are only called by players with reasonable hands.

I felted Keith on the first two hands of a tourney awhile back.

this wasn't a tournament, but my best cash game performance was quite memorable. Seat opens up, I ask to be dealt in. I give $300 to the chip runner for a max buy in. Dealt AK, all in preflop against a pair, board runs out, I loose just as the chip runner returns with my chips. I never even touched the chips I bought. I just slid the rack in the pot and rebought. lol

My birthday game a few years ago. I was in for four buy-ins in 80 minutes. 7 drunken hours later I cashed out for $410.00. A $10.00 profit!

i once drove the 1.5 hours to foxwoods for a $300 tournament. AA on the first hand, lost my stack to KK, was so pissed i went right back to my truck and drove 1.5 hours home. $300 and 3+ hours of my time to play one hand of poker.

The tournament yesterday I didn’t bother to look at structure. 30k for $200 with a 50k for $50 add-on end of reg. Oops. Extreme ICM pressure pre add-on. I had maybe 5% VPIP. I prefer to be around 40%. I had to open fold QQ pre to a 7bb shove. And I brought my AirPod case…without air pods. No bueno.

Yes.

This went down at @TKEUofM's...I was not there.

Local, let's call him JMac, gets KK in middle/late position and raises. It folds around to an empty seat and the table is about to fold the empty seat's hand when the player, let's call him Harry (solid, one of the best in the league), can be heard coming down the stairs. They wait for him. He peeks at his cards and says, "this is a joke, right?" He raises and JMac calls.

Flop comes Q-high. JMac bets, Harry shoves and JMac calls. Harry turns over AA and it holds.

Its a freezeout tournament, so JMac is driving home at 7:05, after losing all of his chips to a guy who wasn't even seated when the hand started.

1/3 cash at Encore last week (I know). Second hand dealt kings in UTG +2 as I’m still getting chips out of rack and settling in. Folds to me, I make it $12, folds to button who flats, sb folds, bb makes it $30, I raise to $75, button again flats, bb shoves for $125. I have $500 having just sat down, so $425 more behind. Button has me covered. I reshove, button calls and flips over rockets. BB has snowmen. 8 comes on the turn so BB triples up, aces hold.

Thats poker, kings will lose to aces, but dang, why was the button flatting??

Wait till you get a load of ME!!! ;)

My AA was felted by 37s at the last game I played. I led pre/every street. Villain missed his flush draw but caught trip 3s on the river.

Can’t say it was “worse” than being out in 4 hands, but given the stage it was on, I was pretty heartbroken.

First time I ever played the main event, the very first hand I get aces. I raise, get two callers. I’m out of position.

AdJcXd. I just flopped top set! I bet out, get one caller. Turn is a blank. I bet out pretty big, he calls. River is a low diamond, putting three diamonds out there. I bet again, he raises big, I scratch my head and call, too young and stubborn to fold a set of aces. He rolls out Jd10d.

I lose over half my stack first hand.

I’m out like two orbits later.

GG

i'm struggling to find any logic behind this structure. what am i missing?
If everyone max late regs then not too much dealer cost? I dunno though. Just guessing. Why anyone would not max late reg…well I tagged the whole field as fish.
