So I finally, finally after a lot of sitting and waiting, I finally got myself a cash set of LeNoirs and couldn't be happier. It was pretty insane how it all happened to work out. I saw a few barrels of 10s for sale on eBay and thought I would start piecing a set together starting there, with the original intent to relabel them as fracs. I messaged the seller and we got to chatting and miraculously he both had a whole set he was willing to part with and also happened to live right along the way to where I was vacationing the very next week. We met up and did the deal!
Thanks to a collab with @Gavin and the talents of @TheOffalo, I have a great LeNoir dealer button to go with the set and also an identically matching design for the fracs that Gear signed off on after some conversation, out of respect to the original LeNoir designer.
But then after it all, I began to have some reservations about doing this. I guess I feel like the LeNoir 10s are a rarity and perhaps I ought not to be murdering them, even though I can't myself ever selling this set in any circumstance, so value is a moot point? I also have felted this set a few times and the crew has been happy with 1/2 so no real need for fracs. We could also just play dollar value divided by 10 if people wanted to play a low stakes games, e.g. 20 bucks gets you $200 in chips.
Some may recall that I did (after some agonizing) end up pulling the trigger on a set of Samurai Palace that comes with fracs. This set has never been used at all, so it makes me question if I even need to do this at all. OTOH, I also recognize that 10s are a completely useless denomination and the completionist in me wants to have a full cash set of my grail chips.
TLDR
1) I hesitate to murder these 10s since they are rare
2) I haven't used fracs in any of my games to date
3) I have already a different set of chips w fracs if I need them
Thoughts??
