Hello all,

I’ve recently got into the poker space and found this set on Facebook marketplace. Thought it would be a nice first set. After a bit of research these seem to look something like the Paulson chips (top hat and cane), which are pretty expensive on eBay. I was just curious if anyone knew if these are Paulson chips, or just some sort of replicas, and an approximate value for this set (550 chips) . For reference, the Three rivers casino is in Florence, Oregon, and they appear to be retired chips hence the slit. One of the chips (slightly different design) says Grand Opening, 2007, so I’m assuming that all of these chips are late 2000s. Sorry if this is a very obvious question, I’m new to this sort of thing.

Thanks!

Edit: each chip weights 8.5g

Yep those are Paulson RHC. Not a bad breakdown you have there too.

Unfortunately I’m not much help on value but the condition isn’t the greatest tbh and that slit in the chip will hurt the value.

In mint condition, a playable RHC set may go for $2-$3 apiece. Used and notched, I'd guess they're probably worth around $400-$500 for the set, maybe more if someone has a connection to that casino. I could be wrong.

thanks for the response!

You could sell the set here to a collector for $350-$400 or so. It’s playable, not a common set and paulsons. But they seem to have some wear and the notch thing lowers the value.

Keep them or turn them around and try and flip em. Either way you scored a nice set for $150. We all would have bought them if they were local. You picked them up fast. Did you see the thread here or find them on your own?

That’s funny, I didn’t see that link here just happened to find it on my marketplace for you page. Seller actually took $100 for them. I think I’d keep them if it weren’t for the notch, but still on the fence!

That's great when they take less! Probably all profit for the seller either way.

I have some notched chips and it doesn't bother me. Tilts a buddy of mine who has ocd.

I would take a set of notched RHC over a tina ceramic set all day. These would be a great starter set and cost only a few hundo more than a tina set. If I were you I'd keep em! You might get sellers remorse if you get rid of them.

I've never seen a set where all the chips are slitted like that. Is it super noticeable when shuffling chips or stacking them up? It's a bit janky but I do like it in a funny way, especially if it led to a great price.

Gaming regulations in Vegas require retired chips to be destroyed, whereas other states don't. Lots of vintage California chips on the market, not so much for Vegas.

I got some mint Arogsy Casino chip that are notched and drilled. I can shuffle them no problem as long as there isn't stamp debris from the drilling. Stacking was no problem after cleaning the drill hole.

The only time I've seen notched chips is where they are canceled or an error. Looks like from the chip guide that they chose to go with some secondary chips that have a very close inlay to the primary design. I wonder the reason they killed the primaries instead of just taking them off the floor.
