Just received a text message from fedex regarding a shipment from a couple of weeks ago that is requesting payment on duties, taxes, and fees.

I plan on returning the items, am I still obligated to pay these fees? What are the repercussions if I dont pay these fees? Does it go to collections? I have really good credit and don’t want it to affect my scores.

Anyone else deal with these random charges after an item is delivered?

My recent purchase of gear labels were delivered in the November. I received an invoice from Fed Ex for $188 in duties on Dec 23. If I chose not to pay it, gear and wifey would have been charged the $188. I went ahead and paid it. It’s not their fault for the stupid tariffs. However, this is my third time ordering from them and my first time having to pay a duty. It was a shock making my $800 in labels and services cost nearly $1000.

Chortles in Australian.

You plan on returning the items to avoid the taxes? I believe you will be still liable regardless as the goods were still imported.
