Cash Game Very small - non standard denoms vs standard? (1 Viewer)

It probably got lost in all of the comments but that is my current set that I’m looking to shelve. Again, I agree that standard is a standard for good reasons lol, not trying to deny or change that.

And for a new set I was considering skipping the $0.05 and going with a base $0.10 chip. Then doing blinds of $0.10/$0.10 or $0.10/$0.20.

And the denoms would then go:

$0.10
$0.50
$2
$10

If you going to do custom, just go with wat you need over what is the norm.

My family play casual stake (10/10c or 10/20c) during family gathering and I been using the $1/$5/$25/$100 chipset at 10x multiply for those game and it works just fine, but I eventually did a custom set for it at a later stage of my chipping journey using 10c/50c/$2/$10 progression.

Also, some chips porn as well

You can tell that it works because if you multiplied it by 10 nobody would bat an eye. Actually if you just bought the multiplied-by-10 denominations and scaled up/down buy-in/outs you'd be good. As-is I'm still scared off by the $2 chip, but that's just me

Awesome, I love the colours. I’m planning on having my $0.10 chip a very similar colour to your $10 chip.

Since you’re familiar. Do you find the game plays any differently? I wanted to start with more $0.10 chips to hopefully keep bets a little smaller, I have a few friends who get scared away because they think our game is more serious than it is, I want it fun and to play a little smaller.

Do you find having a $2 chip slows the betting a little compared to having a standard $1 chip since you are playing for face value? One of my thoughts would be that the $0.10 and $0.50 chips would be used often, and then $2 chip every once in a while or late on the turn/river. Whereas the standard game and breakdown the $0.25 and $1 get used more often.

Or do you find it makes no difference at all. Thanks for sharing!

It didn't matter because some people prefer to bet with 10c x 20 some people like to bet with a single $2

I would do 15/21/14/0 (I don't love having 4 denominations on the table if I can help it). A 500 chip set of 125/175/150/50 gets you 8 full starting stacks and 14 rebuys. Other options are possible.

Ya that’s what I was worried about, I thought it would be nice to have nice even stacks, but if the small chips barely get used anyway, what’s the point in having so many?
