You typically want 5 or 4 chips per jump. The exception to the rule is usually 500s to 1000s. That's because 1000 typically becomes the base chip late in a tournament while 25s and 100s are the base early tournament. There just isnt a super practical way to make a 10x jump from 100 to 1000. There is a school of thought where the jump is to 2000, but people mostly hate that.not worth having that small of a jump in denoms?
