Hey all,

Looking into a micro stakes cash game set for my friendly home game. I've ordered this sample from thepokerstore.com because it's the only decently appealing set I've found with a 5 cent chip (they sell another 5 cent denom but I'm not a fan of the Casino Royale design generally)

I'm probably just looking to get some 5c, 25c, $1, and $5 denoms. I don't love the color of their 25c chip, at least on my screen but we'll see when the sample gets here. While I wait, does anyone have any thoughts on the quality of The Poker Store's Monte Carlos, or advice for where else I can look for 5 cent chips?

One thing I'll say is that the gold flashing around the edge of the labels wears off easily. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of.

Did you end up getting the sample? What ae they like as I was considering getting them too

I did, and honestly wasn't too impressed. I really really liked the color of the white/blue $1 and yellow/red $5, but the 5 and 25 cent chips were a little off-putting.

They also feel really heavy and I knew they were 14g but the weight was still a little shocking. A stack of 20 is so hard to handle, I spent a bit testing them out and shuffling them and my wrist was sore for a while. Maybe I'm too used to the lighter chips at MGMNH, but it really put me off any metal-slugged chips.

The price is hard to be beat, but I just think I'd get sick of them too soon. I had also ordered a sample of The Poker Store's 10g OIympus clays and really prefer the weight and feel of these over the Monte Carlos.

At this point, I'm leaning more towards going in on a group buy for Tina hybrids to get a lighter chip with a nice design. I haven't dug too deep, but I am 95% convinced that these Olympus "pure clays" ARE Tina hybrids being sold by The Poker Store (sorry if that's obvious to anyone else reading this in the future)

The Olympus chips are not Tina Hybrids. The Olympus chips feel soft like clay, while the Tina Hybrids are hard and slippery like ABS plastic.

I would love to know who makes the Olympus chips because they feel and sound pretty much perfect to me.

How would you compare the feel of Tina Hybrids to BrProPoker's ceramics? I really loved the design of their Dia de los Muertos set, but the sample just felt way too slippery to me. Totally agree that the soft feel of the Olympus chips is just perfect.

I've never felt the BRP ceramics to compare, but I have felt the Tina Card Mold ceramics (Apache empire card room). They're just different, pros and cons to both. I'd recommend getting a sample and judging for yourself. After getting a bunch of different samples, ceramics is what I landed on, but it's because I cared a lot about getting a specific design. If I was going for feel, I would have gone with Olympus.

I got 100 of them to test because samples aren't enough and it was cheap. I love them, for the money they have to be the best "china clays" around right now. Albeit they have that "smell". But its already gone after letting them air out lol. Some of the inlays are off but can be fixed easily. They are dry and need some hand oils, but for the money I like them. My local tourney uses monte carlo sluggos and they are horrid compared to these. If you like the casino clay feel.

The Br Pro ceramics are loud, and heavy. Nice, but an acquired taste and not for me. The edges are off and you have to pay for it to be fixed.
