Another Life Update... (1 Viewer)

Based upon the way Anne worded the message, I have to assume that it was posted here by mistake. But this thread is not about Spinettis so I'll hold further comments.

Unfortunate this dragged down your thread, Oscar. Truly hope you find an even better opportunity at the end of the tunnel.. the cream always rises to the top, just a matter of time.

Not sure I'm in a position at all to help, but who knows.. if you need anything or an ear - reach out. Or keep us updated as you move forward incase something sparks and we can!
 
My jaw dropped reading that Oscar lost his job in what might be the most crucial and difficult time in his young life and not once did he lower himself to air any frustrations or hatred towards his former employer. He bowed out gracefully and was even thankful for his time there. While Spinetti's did not say anything specifically negative about Oscar, I find it extremely distasteful they'd chose to say anything at all ESPECIALLY in his thread.
 
I met @Okku in the shop the day all the chips disappeared from the glass display cabinets. Walked into the back room to nothing!
Oscar, still seemingly in the dark as to what happened, still served me with a smile and helped me collect some singles. We had a good chat and more recently, assisted promptly with some labels.

I don't want to make this about me or chippers in general, but ultimately it's a positive reflection on Oscar and don't believe it was previously brought up, so may as well mention since the dust has settled a little.

Apart from Oscar helping out people on specific cappers, there are a good deal of us on PCF that have been putting together sets via singles and/or small quantities over time. I have one set that has been five years in the making. During that time and on his own accord, Oscar had always reached out when Spinettis got any quantity of them in, and without him, my set wouldn't be nearly close to completion as it is. The encyclopedic knowledge he has as to chippers and their sets, and helping to build them out was a huge service to the community (and to his employer to make quick/easy/profitable sales) that will sorely be missed.

Wishing you and the family the best, and looking forward to seeing what you're cooking up on your next venture. I have no doubt you'll nail whatever you end up doing.

Right? My collection would not be where it’s at today without his help of several single by single accusations.

I’m not going to suddenly not purchase or blackball Spinettis because of this. I need some singles damnit.

That being said, I had a long written pm for Okku the day he posted this thread. All specific to singles, Spinettis restocking procedures, etc.

It was my biggest concerted effort to date in perusing singles to build barrels/racks. He had previously been super responsive to me in my first spinetti dealings, was obviously the face for them specific to PCF, and a known touchpoint for me - all huge pluses for someone like me who doesn’t like to “bug” people.

I’m sure Spinettis could assist, but I don’t think they’d be as helpful and wouldn’t enjoy the exchange as much, so I’ll just keep doing my own thing.

It’s the end of a relationship and dynamic to be sure, and although new to the singles hunt, I think a pretty huge loss for those involved in those endeavors.

Can only hope that it’s a net positive for Oscar in the long run, and that additional avenues open up for those of us hunting.

I hope things have picked up since your last post here.
I have been mostly inactive on PCF the last few weeks and can totally relate.
This spring I was let go from 2 jobs in 2 months and finally start a new job again tomorrow.
Hang in there bud!

I didn't realize you were so young.
Huge future ahead of you I'm sure and we are all rooting for your success and budding family.

Also crossing my fingers all went well with the package I sent you recently that was eventually headed to Europe.
I should have corresponded with you prior to shipment. I had no idea till seeing this post today about your parting ways at Spinettis. I can reship or refund or make things right if things went sideways with the transaction, just lmk.

Lastly. Wisconsin huh. Hmm. Would be very cool to see you head this way.
Maybe @Cratty could offer insite on similar employment leads in this neck of the woods?

Thank you for the kind words.

It's been an eye opening few weeks to be honest. I've been doing a lot of planning and thinking about what I want to do in the future. Some things I have shared with a few members and talked to them via phone or in person. Things that I'm currently working on so maybe we'll see that here in the near future.

Other than that I've been applying to tons of jobs, haven't gotten anything yet so just keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm going to try and update my portfolio here in the next two/three weeks. That way it's got some more variety in there with other projects that I've done in the past and more than likely create a few other things that I'd like to have on there.

I did receive the package, thank you, luckily I was able to get that from my previous job when I went there to get my things. I'm not going to go into that...

and yes! I'm pretty young, but I think that's what keeps things exciting with me!

Thank you again Ryan and everyone on here! I seriously appreciate all of the support, love and encouragement that you all have shown me!

I'll keep this updated as things progress with my ideas, plans and anything else that happens here!
 
Oscar, had the pleasure of purchasing a few things here and there from you in person 'at the store'. Most every time I was there, you were always busy with people waiting for -YOU- to help them. Last time I was in, there were a few customers waiting for you, and all I could do was toss you a "see you next time!" after waiting about 30 minutes (...nothing I really needed, but most likely would have purchased from you...). Your professionalism, enthusiasm, knowledge and more was unparalleled. There's been times when other employees working have offered to help and have been ....less than enthusiastic.... about helping/showing/making a sale. I wish no ill will on anyone, but customer service will make/break a business.

Don't know the details about the "why" for your employment separation - but can sympathize. Eons ago I was "let go" 2 weeks before my wedding, and was also told I would not be getting my 2 weeks paid vacation I'd worked non-stop for, over the previous 3 years. Turns out the owners decided to sell and leave the state. That's something I can still very easily remember. Don't let it eat away at you, continue moving on and looking to the future.

And if you need anything.....holler.....
 
Got some exciting news on two parts of my life that I've very thankful for this past week.

Regarding the last interview that I had, I was offered a position here at a local company and went ahead with them which I'm very excited about. Something that will push me to work harder, but a position and company that I'm very thankful for especially with all of the stuff that has been going on in my life recently. I'll be starting that job on the 16th which will give me some time to get into a routine with my next update. Super excited!

On Thursday, I was here at home with Lilah just unboxing some stuff, cleaning and getting the day started. Was getting some chip packages packed up and labels made for a few members when I get a text from my wife that something was going on. Next thing you know I get a call with her parents, my mom and her. Long story short, Aili had started bleeding on Sunday/Monday which isn't exactly what you want, but apparently from what nurses told us that it's common amongst women who have had their water broken. We were both told that it comes and goes as long as it didn't get really really red it was okay. On Monday, it was a light pink then the next few days it progressively got darker and heavier in color. Aili started to feel sick and lose motivation essentially because she wasn't feeling well. She was hot, didn't eat or drink much and her stomach started to get tenser to her touch. On Wednesday, high risk doctor came to check on her because Aili requested an ultrasound. Doctor looked at baby and he was sideways (almost starting to flip), he's been "breech" the whole time which means that his head was still up. There was a chance that he could've flipped, but since there wasn't much fluid left around him he more than likely wouldn't have been able to. Thursday morning the same high risk doctor came to check on Aili and immediately told her that she doesn't look good. Went to get a few things, checked on her and told her "today is the day". Aili got herself ready mentally as best as possible and then gave me a call. I got Lilah, my things and a few things for Aili and headed to the hospital to meet up with her dad (who took Lilah for the few days we were at the hospital) and then my mom met us there too. We were scheduled for a C-Section at around 4pm or so, got wheeled into OR at about 5 or just before. Went into surgery for delivery and shortly after we were introducing baby Archer into the world.

He came out at a pretty decent size for being 10 weeks early:
3 lbs 7 oz
15 inches long

He's currently in the NICU and will be until about his original due date which was going to be the 1st week of November. We were at the hospital from Thursday until last night (Saturday). Went to check on him multiple times throughout the day and night to make sure he's progressing well and so far he is. Today we stopped by twice so far. Once in the morning and in the afternoon and will be checking on him again later tonight. They do they're cares during the same intervals during the day (8:30am/pm and 2:30am/pm). Two nurses are assigned to him who have been taking very good care of him and we have access to a camera which we have a livestream available to watch 24/7. We've been able to change a few diapers so far, check his temperature and a few other things during those cares.

Both Aili and I are very grateful for all that bought stuff from our registry. Neither of us thought that we would've gotten as much help as we did so we greatly appreciate it. Aili is waking very well even though she's only 3 days post op. She's proving to me that she doesn't want to use a wheel chair and doing very well.

I haven't been on here for the past couple days and it might take a bit for me to get more active again, but thank you everyone for all of the support and love!

Congratulations on the new job Oscar, great news!

My son was born 6 weeks early. Never would guess he was looking at him now. Take it day by day and trust the doctors and nurses. Angels on earth, they are.
 
My younger daughter was born 2 months early, 3 pounds 11 oz, felt like I could hold her in the palm of my hand (in reality she was about as tall/long as my forearm). She was in the NICU pretty much until her actual due date.

She’s a vibrant, intelligent, creative, more than a little impulsive, 19 year old young lady starting her sophomore year in college this week.

NICU nurses are miracles. Your son is in good hands.
