Scammed by USPS? (3 Viewers)

Luckily I paid using my CC. I’ll contact the credit card company tomorrow.

Not going to press charges across the country.

There’s enough information here for people to make their own judgment.
Smart move.

You just started a family and he has your home address. Plus time is money - gathering, providing evidence, and charge back process is pretty straight forward from the examples I’m familiar with.

Disclaimer: It apparently took a full 14 days for the boxes to arrive, not the 10 days previously calculated. When I shipped them, tracking indicated they would be delivered in only 3 days. I'm feeling quite frustrated right now.. …

First, I want to sincerely apologize for this situation.

Booya, You requested half of the money back, mentioning you'd let it go, yet in the same messages, you said you would seek a full refund from the credit card company while still wanting me to return half.

I’m not accusing you of scamming me, but it does raise concerns. You could easily weigh paper to match the contents and claim they never arrived, seeking refunds from both me and the credit card company. You did say you wanted half back immediately and that you would pursue a full refund from your credit card. I find that odd you asked me for half the money back immediately, maybe you’re just as flustered as I am.

I am so sorry you are not happy with the purchase of the ocean sides. I thought we had made a good deal. This is the first I’m hearing of your displeasure. That was a $4,000 dollar purchase for two racks and they were not 100% mine, which I told you, and I tried to do my best to please everyone.

As far as this shipment I shipped the items in two boxes, and based on the video you shared, it appears that someone may have cut open the boxes and taken the inner box. Maybe from the bottom as the labels appear perfect. I’m truly not sure what happened after the chips left my possession, but I will be filing a police report to investigate further tonight. I value my integrity far more than any amount of money, so I appreciate everyone's patience during this, and in the kindest way I’m sorry this happened. When these things happen, it affects everyone in the community and it is not for the good. I also need some time to process this and I look forward to seeing what the police can do.

In closing, I ask everyone to please refrain from slamming anyone or making accusations. I am receiving a lot of text messages and this is getting somewhat out of hand to the point where my upcoming wedding day and 16 year old sons new job as a lifeguard is being ridiculed. I am not a scammer and haven’t ever scammed anyone.

the plot thickens. calling it even for half your money back is an interesting first offer. and i would like to see this video!

no skin in the game and know neither side from a hole in the wall, but it's also pretty easy for the recipient to remove the chips and add the appropriate amount of paper back in.

will be interesting to watch either way, may the righteous side(s) win!!

Yah idk why I offered half. I wanted to see if he would accept it/responsibility as the seller.

You clearly don’t know either side lol. I’m know to always pay a premium and extremely trustworthy.

Anyone with experience on PayPal using goods and services and cc payment? Always use CC and goods and services for something like this. Quick PayPal prompts I couldn’t do anything.
Credit card should cover this?
What’s the process? I just tried on PayPal and got stonewalled bc it was friends and family using a CC. I misspoke I didn’t do goods and services. So I need to contact my credit card company eh?
Yes. Call your credit card company.

Off the top of my head I think the HSI's weigh about 9.5 grams. 1750×9.5=16,625 g. 16,625÷25.4=654.5. 654.5÷16=40.9 lbs. Quick napkin math says they should weigh about 40 lbs.

You clearly don’t know either side lol.

i honestly thought this was the case, but i searched my private messages out of curiosity, and i have a few successful transactions (in both directions) with him. what struck me though is that my only direct exchange with you was apparently related to some other time you got scammed, i must have commented in that thread too. *edit* that was a local eBay thing where you got shorted in a live purchase - my bad.

lol between Gorbash and myself, Booyah has probably traded $50k back and forth with us.

So no, Booyah is not in question here.

Most major companies have fraud protection that will make their customer whole before the matter is actually resolved.

Barrie's advice above is good. That's how I'd handle it.
Agree, the only question is F&F on PP can be classified as an advance. PP is the intermediary just processing the transaction and has limited fraud liability in that scenario. I’m not sure how the chargeback/interchange rules apply in that scenario. In a normal circumstance there is a merchant that signs up for the interchange rules when they accept CC payments. In the FF scenario, if it’s a cash advance - the rules can be different.

Hopefully they will allow a charge back, likely has to do if PP has the ability to “chargeback” or recoup from spacemonkey..

Not sure in this scenario TBH.

what sense is that? no man is perfect. definitely conflicted.
Explicitly, since you ask, a pious liar who acts like he is fantastic for his contributions through philanthropy, all while being petty, and showing his lack of character.

everyone is an expert in hindsight i guess. where were your warnings in foresight? lol
Again, if you've read the thread, it reads like a manifesto for a high school drama queen.

But let's see if I can provide a bit of insight. He starts the thread with apologetics for his own discrimination, after overplaying his victim card of being excluded.

If your not a member here and lurking you can still recieve them, no problem just send me an email expressing “in” or “interest” to [email protected] and your in the running. ALL ARE WELCOME IN MY WORLD.

Gets called out on his BS

Can’t help but to think this is a direct response to unnecessarily ripping into that poor guy yesterday who was just trying to give someone who couldn’t afford a decent set a chance at one. But hey, GLWgiveaway.

Gets called out again

I am a lowly new member and rarely get involved in silly internet arguments, but this entire thing just rubs me the wrong way and I feel compelled to comment.

So let me get this straight. You acted like an entitled Karen in that poor guy's sales thread yesterday. Instead of admitting you were wrong or apologizing, you decide to make a "giveaway" thread with a bunch of passive aggressive comments that are so obviously directed at the OP of that sales thread you might as well have tagged his username in it.

You having a childish fit and then trying to claim "discrimination" (while also bringing God into it) is just beyond absurd. As someone who has faced actual discrimination in his life, I don't appreciate this at all. This is not a good look for the community as a whole and definitely doesn't set a good example for all the new chippers/members who may have viewed your asinine comments in that sales thread.

While I appreciate how generous you are being in this thread, one good deed does not overwrite a bad one. If you really want to make things right or clear your conscience, you owe @softchewy a sincere apology.

Just my 2 cents.

Calls out God in every post as a way to not actually answer or engage in a conversation about how petty he is being.

I still host mega cash games weekly, and people from time to time do FLY or travel far and wide to play in it because this is the emerald triangle, and with that rarely do I host tournaments (where did that come from) and Imo I play better poker than 99% of everyone I’ve ever met. I’ve only played 3 PCF tourneys online here and I won all three so I opted out of any future ones. Locals call me the Goat, even though I’m not a fan of it. I also buy and sell TONS of chips for several off site members including WELL known millionaire and TV celebrities. Dont ever assume they are for me, half I don’t even see as im extremely connected as an anointed one of Him and His kingdom. Hash tag BLESSED.

I mean his humble nature here is just baffling.

He does go on to openly ask for help for some of our members, or he is just placating God, I'm not sure which
Lord please help this poster. He appears way out of my reach to help today, or job description, and it appears he’s assuming/spreading nonsense/fantasies, and now ignored. Please have him post examples/evidence to help him clear his own mind, meanwhile I’ll say a prayer for him. Amen.

Continues to cite the LORD and what he likes to cherry-pick and exclude from his version of Christianity

That’s not the God, or Christianity I worship. Scripture warns us, we all have to watch out for fakes in life. Seems like
“most” could be replaced with “fakes” in your post, and again that’s not my God.

Anyway that is the first 1/2 of the thread, and I feel like that might be all one needs.

I'm not Nostradamus, but it's hindsight now. At the time of his post, it would have been foresight, which is when I formulated this complex conclusion. Sure I didn't know it was going to be today when he scammed a member, or that it would be for 5k but ... IDK maybe we should table the semantics and focus on the OPs post rather than how I guessed this unstable person would screw over the community.

Regardless of weight.. we're talking effectively 18 racks of chips.. right? Does 2 boxes feel like an appropriate packaging to anyone here to protect those chips (let alone fit well on their own right).

Theres also no way in hell that boxes filled to the brim with paper make up the exact weight on the box.

Come clean, @SpaceMonkey420

I could honestly see a postal employee, or someone in the system, making a switch, seems like an ingenious way to do things, especially if they could cut through the bottom, that has a ring of truth to it. I'm hoping thats what happened and not an outright scam. I think the best approach is to start the process of filling claims in a timely manner and let the powers that be investigate.

I certainly believe that DBoo got scammed, but, maybe not by spacemonkey. I know it's easy to quickly take sides and start a witch hunt,
I'm reserving judgements until it's been investigated.

Eh I’ve shipped a limit set (10racks) in a large FRB before with the box inside a box strategy and lots of tape. I’m not saying it’s a good idea, but I don’t think that is a strong point in any direction.

that was my first thought because i thought flat rate labels didn't have the weight, but since they do, it would help create plausible deniability.

This.

It allows seller to say “I shipped the item!” And then argue no fault when the boxes arrive with ‘something different.’

I mean. Are there no photos of the boxes pre-shipment? It’s 2025… I take pics of all high-dollar items while they’re being packed, once fully packed, and also at the USPS/UPS drop off counter. Just to be safe.

Those pics actually recently helped locate a misplaced package in the mail room that I sent to a buyer on this very form.

Do such packing/shipping photos exist on the seller’s end for this transaction? If they have them they should offer them up for substantiation.

I like both parties in this transaction, and it sucks that it’s rough.

My advice to all would be to never let anyone know what’s in the boxes. The poker chip forum label, combined with heavy weight, likely contributed to the problem. I honestly believe that both sides were honest, and likely this was a mid shipment theft.

Also, I always video opening and packing shipments. That way there is never doubt on my side.
