Dear Al,

As I had a small pb refreshing a list, I decided to do the long overdue upgrade to the latest version v4.0e beta.
Made the set up and copy/paste guest.
All works fine. The sending a test is really great.

I only have a small pb I never had before.

1 - My event date is setup for next friday (Fri July 4 2025).
2 - My spreadsheet is DD/MM/YYYY in the settings (as before)
3 - Parameters are GMT+1 and french language (as before)
4 - My text is same as before : "VENDREDI [Date] à [Time]."

But the SMS I receive is : "VENDREDI Jul, 03, 2025".
This is sent thru a Mail2SMS gateway.

I cannot see any reason.
If needed I gave you access to the GSheet

PS : Just tested with previous sheet and date is OK (text a bit different) tho : "VENDREDI 04/07/2025"

And all he rest seems fine (dashboard is OK). Just the date in SMS is with a problem

Sorry, but this one is going to take me some time to figure out without braking other stuff. In the meantime you can manually replace [Date] in the your template with the date you want. I know it's not ideal but hopefully it's only for a little while.

I did do a lot of messing around with the date logic to fix another bug. So it’s possible I introduced a regression. Messing with universal date time is a real PITA.

Thanks. This is a small problem. I workaround by writing the date instead of the variable.

Looks like this was caused by changing the locale to France. Apparently you guys use semi colons and delimiters in formulas and we use comas. Who knew?

I switched it back to United States and that part is working now.

Ah ... I tried to with no luck Strange. Anyway thanks a lot for solving this.

It could be that it’s only a problem if you regenerate the Dashboard while the French locale is set. Try switching back to French and see if it works.

That’s a rather long answer.

It can, however, AT&T is retiring the capability of sending texts via email. So if any of your friends use AT&T, they will not receive text messages. Also, sending texts via email has proved to be unreliable.

I did create the capability of integrating with Twilio, which is a paid SMS service. Once set up, it has been super reliable.

Guests can only see the dashboard. If you don’t want people seeing the “unknown” list, then you can delete the two rows for that status in the dashboard without any issues. I’ve been using it this way.

There is a hide responses setting. I put it in but have not used it myself. I don’t recall exactly what it does aside from the obvious. Give it a try.

[EDIT] Strange, but I changed nothing and the date log seems to be back as previously (with US date MMDDYYYY obviously). Just FYI if this matters.

FYI, I also witness a chnage in the way log events are stored. At somepoint, the event date was not writen anymore. May be it is also related ?
No big deal, but just to let you know.

When sending (reminder) message(s) ti guests, I'd like to be able to include the guest's current status

Not worth a new version in and of itself, but perhaps something to include in the next major updatw?

I got two notices from Google in my gmail that Invitetracker tried to send out a dotimedsend and it failed. I found that weird since I haven't touched the sheet for 2 or 3 weeks. Ideas?

Yeah that happens. That event triggers every hour or however often you have it configured. It basically checks to see if you have Send Hourly turned on and sends the messages it needs to send.

Sometimes google glitches and trips an error. You can usually safely ignore them.

I can confirm a nasty bug (first saw some versions ago) who was not easy to confirm.

• From time to time, without any clear pattern, I get a « player click » but this player never did anything.
• I now can confirm that this happens when « user 1 » do an action/click, then 3 to 5 seconds later « user 2 » get a log action and his status change.
• « User 1 » and « user 2 » are always 2 users one after the other in the ordered list.

It happens without any clear pattern or clear trigger. It is not often but happens every couples of games.

In the last case, Lea didn’t do anything. See screenshot

Wow. Great description. Never seen this before. But could see how I’m stretching the limits of google app script.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot or solve this at the moment. But let me think on it. Please let me know if any new patterns emerge.

Just happened again.

- Jonathan put himself IN (and goes to WAITING LIST) = OK
- received a mail for Jonathan changing his status = OK
- Nothing more on the log and no more amail
- But now we have JEREMY on the waiting list too = NO GOOD.

But I do think I may have the explanation.
- Player 1 choose "IN"
- The player list automatically refresh and player goes up.
- Because the max is reach => The algorythm wants to put him on "WAIT LIST" => Search by position for the player to move it but as list changed he uses the player 2 who was next to player 1 but now in old player 1 position.

Or something like this make sense.

On the positive side it is easy to ma&ke the correct changes because the log is always correct.
So if you check logs you can spot the differences.

Exactly and E-mail tracking change is always correct when I have this error there is only an email for the first actual player change so I can easily undo the change for the second player not connected.

Hello! Is there a known issue where text messages (not using twilio) are truncated? This happens when testing on my phone which is using Visible wireless, and that totally could be my own issue. IT happened in beta but I went back and tried it on v3.7 and same thing.

Hi, I’m not aware of anything like that but it’s probably carrier related. How long is your message?

Standard sms is something like 127 characters but most providers will mask that by breaking up your message into multiple sms texts and reassembling on the other end.

Sounds like I may have a problem in my wait list logic. I’m currently tied up with life. I will try to get to it soon.

I'm trying to use that as an alternative but they have all of these regulations on using the phone numbers and you have to say you're a sole propietorship and claim the messages are part of campaign. Did anyone actually do all this successfully? Mine got rejected

Yeah. It’s a bit of a PITA to set up - especially with the USA regulations. But once set up it works great. It can take a couple weeks to get through all the regulations though.

Any suggestions for the part about requiring consent for people to subscribe to the notifications? I don't know for sure but I think that part might have failed me since I just said I added people annually.

I think I said something like all contacts are friends who I know personally and have consented to receive these notifications and they always have the option to opt out.

I think I also included a sample text the includes the option to opt out at the bottom.

The amount of retries and changes it took to get this one little green bubble is...staggering.
