Hello, I have been a poker enthusiast since my boyhood, but new to this forum. I have hosted my fair share of games and tournaments and have used out some reamed out 1 1/2 Schedule 40 PVC pipe and pins to hold the correct stacks to start games. I.E in a cash game each pipe has 50$ worth of chips you show up give me the 50$ I give you a pipe and we are good to go. It helps greatly to speed up games and don't have to break and count chips with late commers. I have tried the 25 Chip clear acrylic tubes but they don't hold enough and the caps pop off easily plus the 40MM chips have a hard time getting in and out. Full racks for 100 chips is overkill and hard to transport. I finally 3D printed some tubes and they are working well but tend to break if they fall onto a hard floor full of 35 chips. I am considering starting to produce nice aluminum tubes with cutouts so you can still see the chips in there. I want them to fit at least 30 chips and still fit in the classic aluminum and eggcrate case. (Even though I also want to make a cool rack system). Any input? Or a product that exists that I haven't seen before? I have some engineering background and some manufacturing connections. Thanks for any input.

Thanks that looks great and is a way simpler solution than what I was looking into. How durable are they? I'm figuring I could produce an aluminum alternative for like $3.50 each and they would last forever but this you get 25 for 50 and I'm betting that'll last forever too.

I see 1 1/2 ID (38.1mm), then it jumps to 2 1/2 (63mm). I have mostly cheap 40mm please don't judge . I'm guessing these tubes won't work. Even though it seems 39mm are fitting fine??

40mm??? I have never heard of 40mm:unsure: They fit CPC chips which can be slightly larger in diameter (depending on mold) with plenty of room to spare. I would not believe this would be an issue. If you give me a bit I can take a picture to share with you showing how much extra room there is for 39mm

You can see there is plenty of space on the top side of a 39mm chip.

I just bought some 3 ball golf clear plastic tubes with 2 end caps on aliexpress and they seem to also work for poker chip tubes. A 43 mm barely fits in the ones I bought, but the 39mm fits very comfortably. Just tried it and can fit 39 chips in the tube, so 35 would fit comfortably.

I only paid $18.50 for 14 of them, so I thought it was a really good deal and also did not have to buy as many as I think you need to on Uline.

A few pics are below. First 2 pics are with 39 chips. Last pick is with 30 chips.

Thanks for the links I need the 25 and two sides with caps seems like the cavemen will struggle either keeping closed or losing caps. But is i need a few more then I'll go with the Ali express and give those out to the more civilized hooligans

The plastic tube link and advice was great and I did order some. I also went down the manufacturing rabbit hole and had these made. They are aluminum, and have threaded lids 100% idiot and caveman proof. The longer hold 50chips up to 40mm. The smaller hold 34ish. They are laser cut and laser logo. The //// design lets you see at least a little of each or the the chips. the suit cutout is prettier but not as practical. The little stand is pretty but they fit in my aluminum suitcase with no modification . Let me know what you think.

What's the wear and tear on clay chips with metal tubes?

The inside diameter is just over 40mm 40.3. So 40mm chips there is no room to bang around but slide in and out nicely. 39mm chips really are almost no difference. The //// designs makes it so they chips or fingers won't catch any hang down points like the heart v or the spade. Also no cutout is for sure could be a possible option which would make for great shipping. If you are not filling them to the top you could put a sponge or something in the lid or at the bottom and I cant see and harm coming to clay chips.

Goggle told me "Aluminum alloys are relatively soft compared to clay ceramics, though certain high-strength aluminum alloys (like 7075) can be quite hard and resistant to wear. Titanium alloys are harder than aluminum alloys but not as hard as most ceramics." These tubes are 6063 not as hard as 7075 talked about above .So the clay/ceramic chips are "harder" than the tube so the tube won't scratch them. However them clacking around against each other in the tube if you leave too much space could cause a problem.

Those look cool.

Just not something that I've ever felt necessary. I keep my chips ready to in the racks, so it's pretty easy to pull them out for another player.

But those are cool looking and look very quality.

Haha my wife also doubts the necessity and she is a pretty smart lady. This is definitely a bit of a passion project.

I don’t use any cylinder system, and I’d be afraid that the players would take the chips out of them and then during the course of the night stuff them with their trash.

Seriously thinking about this for shipping chips. Seal them in the pvc tubes cut to size for a flat rate box.
40mm chips takes a bit of work reaming out the tube 39mm fit in much better. I will say the HD PVC doesn't have Steller consistency. I had a hole in the bottom sealed cap to poke a straw through to unstick any chips that refused to come out some tubes were worse than others. This silly quark is what lead to my mission for better tubes. With that said sealed and shipped those chips will be safe, unless the receiver needs to pry them out with a screwdriver.

If I move forward with mass production of these I think Ill leave an option for no cutouts. It seems like chip safety and shipping seems to be higher on some peoples lists that a little viewing window. If I sell them for 3$ each might be worth having a screw cap, and not have to modify the PVC to fit. Ill need to load up some clay chips in a tube and do some scientific stress tests (throw off roofs).

At $3 apiece I’d take enough to carry 500 chips. At least 500 chips, and depending on price would take up to a 1000 chip capacity for traveling.
No cutouts, I’m wondering about abrasion points around the edges of them.

I can imagine what these metal wrapped dense cylinders arranged neatly in a row is going to look like at airport security, lol. But I think the aluminum is thin enough the chips will stand out distinctly enough so there no alarm.

Would you have a preference to color and size would you like the 50 chip size or the 34 chip size? I'll put up some better pictures and measurements in the next few days. No punch outs make my life easier. I hope there is a market for people who don't want the punch out.

50 chip to make it easy to account for them all.

Quite interesting. If you can do okay at $3/each i would have to believe you could sell a boatload of them.
3$ is what the smaller 34 chip tube would cost the 50 chip holder is looking more like 4$. I'm trying to hit the sweet spot of 8 for 35$ basically a tournament table set. Sorry I haven't posted more details and better pictures. I'm a teacher and the school year is ending. I'm about to have more time for hobbies. TBH I don't know how to price these things. I would love to get more feedback
