Some of you might know that i own a laser engraving machine at work and try some stuff out.
Some days ago i had the idea of making a "Tribute Chip" to my RHC relabel cash set out of fine silver.

I really like the results!
The measurement is a bit off as the diameter is 38.4mm and the thickness is 2.2 mm but i quite like it!

Wow cool! What does the raw silver of a coin that size cost?

My goldsmith did this from a one ounce Krugerrand. These are typically about 42-44€ here. But the work to plain it out is a pain in the ass. The cost without my design and the lasering isnt worth the material tbh. I still think its very cool.

Very cool, but now I’m going to spend all day thinking about an entire table shuffling a stack of these and the amount of noise it would make

Can u fill an airtite with special gasses to prevent tarnishing? Or will it tarnish?

Why would they call them that thats so misleading. I would be upset if i put a silver coin in an airtite and it didnt work.

Not quite redbull wiiiinggs level but still.

12 grams of silver is roughly the size of a USA 50-cent piece. The market value of 12 grams of silver is ~$30 at current market value, however one would want "coin" silver (90% pure) rounds custom made. Toss in the engraving - let's call it $50/chip --or-- $50,000 for a 1,000 chip set

Maybe make it a group buy to shave off a bit of the cost? -=- DrStrange

The thing is you would have to find a vendor who sells blank silver coins. I haven't found something like that over here without a high moq. And even then i can imagine that the price could be higher. Let alone the engraving if not done privatly is not that cheap.
