You know what they say, If you have to ask....I see some sets selling or several thousand dollars. The price I understand due to the type of chips, quantity, etc...But how??? LOL.

You are prob going to stand out as the oddball around here.My normal saying. I guess I"m more of why spend so much on chips you may not use but hobbies are hobbies. I'm not a collector.

From money viewpoint.
If you spend $100 on dice chip, you are wasting / losing $90 in Fair Market Value.
If you spend $100 on plastic-slugged chip, you are wasting / losing $75 in Fair Market Value.
If you spend $100 on Paulson, you are making money or at least breakeven at the very least.
So, It actually More "expensive" to own lower end chips.
Im curious to see how these chips hold up over time with repeated play. That could effect future value. What about cards mold or the hybrid chips?
That is about the same time I purchased my WTHC set. I was stupid enough to buy 1800 chips
what the bigger flex? all the chips or the deckmate2?It's just a hobby for most guys, some collect old cars, art work or maybe a rental house.
My son has told me it's a good thing you don't collect cars. Trust me there are more, a lot more!

They still relatively "new" but never used CM and NM seem to resell for about 90% of their cost (includ shipping) on average at the moment. But I suspect this retainer % will only go down as time go by.What about cards mold or the hybrid chips?
Ditto.Im curious to see how these chips hold up over time with repeated play. That could effect future value.
Ditto. They retain more value than dice and sluggers
I didn't even notice the deckmate2 before you mentioned it.what the bigger flex? all the chips or the deckmate2?![]()
It's unlikely you'll make money on them, though in some cases you can definitely break even (if you have a set that's desirable for a particular person but they don't want to wait 2 months to get a custom order in), but you could probably get 75-90% of the value back if the chips are still in great shape. What about cards mold or the hybrid chips?
Unsure about this one…sometimes the joy and satisfaction of physically having stuffs u don’t need trumps the distress of financial pain. U can always make more $$ but u can’t always find what u want…smhI would hope no one would spend money they didn’t have or shouldn’t spend on something as unnecessary as custom poker chips. If the cost of what you are interested in buying causes financial pain you should not buy it.
HODLWho cares about retaining value? It's all about the utility... like crypto![]()
well if your name is @iceman5691 you will probably be able to have stickers not simply applied, but done professionally and be able to increase their value dramatically. DYOR. YMMV.What about cards mold or the hybrid chips?

FairYou know what they say, If you have to ask....
When I first got into poker chips I bought a big set of Paulson Pharaoh’s and that was the only set I had for several years. After a while I wanted a separate cash set from my tournament set and bought a set of PCA’s back when they were a $1/chip lol. As @DrStrange mentioned, back then it was cheap to get new sets. Now I’m 20+ years in and it doesn’t take long to acquire a decent sized collection over that time.My normal saying. I guess I"m more of why spend so much on chips you may not use but hobbies are hobbies. I'm not a collector.
The reason cards mold, no mold and hybrid currently hold much of their value is while you could buy them new, you generally need to wait 2+ months for them to arrive. They still relatively "new" but never used CM and NM seem to resell for about 90% of their cost (includ shipping) on average at the moment. Seem like they will retain most of their value at current Market Trend.
Used and Too personal customed Chips will likely lose more of their value compared to the New for obvious reason.
Ditto.
Ditto.
Agreed, I was able to sell some no-mold Crystal Park for more than list, but not at a profit. I sold for my cost, which includes the reshipping cost to me, and then shipping to the person who bought it. So it is higher than "list price" but the person didn't have to wait 2 months and I broke even. The reason cards mold, no mold and hybrid currently hold much of their value is while you could buy them new, you generally need to wait 2+ months for them to arrive.
I’ve seen a number of sales of popular cards mold chips sell for the same price as new (and sometimes a bit above), for exactly the reason that the buyer can have them NOW.
Step by step as to how .....I see some sets selling or several thousand dollars. The price I understand due to the type of chips, quantity, etc...But how??? LOL.
If every new member did this there would be no moreStep by step as to how .....
1. Use this site for information. Figure out exactly what you need. Plenty of great threads here have tons of great info for anyone new.
2. Get samples. Lots of samples. Figure out what exactly it is you want. Take your sweet time here.
3. Buy what you need in the exact flavor you want. Remember that it is your set for your game so get what you want and settle for nothing less. Getting that first purchase right the first time will save you TONS of cash.
that last attachment is lovely! Wow which ones are those?
I’m still on the hunt for those 1s, overtime…
Besides that this set cost a pretty penny.
I’m broke but happy.
I’m used to spending money on expensive hobbies like yugioh pokemon etc, but this exceeds that by a lot
True... but what if you buy exactly the set you want... absolutely perfect for your game in every way... then bomb proof it for future expansion of your game, and years later you still love them every single time you look at them/play them... but no matter what it still doesn't scratch the itch?Step by step as to how .....

Heyyyyyyyy, I used to play yugioh too in another life. At the last Konami event I judged, all the judges were given SJC Crush Cards and SJC Gold Sarcs. I vowed to never never get rid of them, but eventually a friend convinced me to let him have them along with a couple of Top 8 regional playmats. He ended up getting rid of them all. If you look at the price of them now, you can see why I’m still kinda frustrated about getting rid of those and him getting rid of them as well.I’m used to spending money on expensive hobbies like yugioh
Okay, now you’re just showing off!Sometimes it’s all about the time one puts into a project. If you were to spend years working on assembling such a set, what might that set be worth to you?
When you see rare sets out there listed for prices that seem mind boggling, you've just got to put it in perspective.

When you are 65 and have no money to retire on get back to me. You don’t want to be thinking “damn, that $5000 I spent on poker chip when I was thirty would be almost $90K now! Instead it cost me 10K with interest payments on my maxed out CCUnsure about this one…sometimes the joy and satisfaction of physically having stuffs u don’t need trumps the distress of financial pain.
