Crazy that Hy-vee has a good deal. Always seems so expensive, yet I find myself shopping there often. I may have to try this bourbon. Is either of these Uncle Nearest bottles a snap buy at these prices?

I’ll take credit for the Old Kirk sampleIn the mood for cold, undiluted whiskey this evening. First pour you see is a sample of Old Kirk 124pf that who knows who gave me at God knows when. It’s really damn good. Then I’ll follow with the Origin finished rye.

My latest haul. I have always been a fan of Buffalo Trace. This is my first bottle of Blanton’s.
Lost Monarch cask is becoming my cocktail mixer. That cask strength helps when diluted. Otherwise, it’s a bit much neat and watering it down just transforms it to the regular Monarch
Texas young is a lot different than Kentucky young. That constant heat ages whiskey fast. Very distinct flavors.Local store pick in Austin. Super nice people that let me try before buying. Young, but packs sweet heat with a long finish. Good stuff!

It has to be better when you overpayThat Sazerac rye is funny around me. I can get it off the shelf for $36 at my grocery store and my chain liquor store. The guy at the tater liquor store still charges $65 and sells out.![]()
